First post in a LONG time!

Thanks Dave! Business is picking up and I've little time for personal stuff right now, but my next storage unit run will see my Sequels come back with me. I think I'm going to build new cabinets for them and some upgrades. And I may have a go at rebuilding the panels as the tension on the...

First post in a LONG time!

MAJOR bump folks! Still in SoCal but I'm starting a new business to help out the friend I mentioned earlier. He's real close to retiring at this point. My business is Sandhurst Electronics. The website is just up and running. If you're interested, please search my company name. PM me if you're...

L.F. driver replacement for original Sequel?

I'll check with them for sure. I assumed they'd be unavailable. Thanks! As for cabinets, marine grade Baltic birch ply, and I'd update the styling. I never did like the 'flying buttress' design, even though that's an iconic style for the earlier generations of MLs. Sorry, no flames..... :haha1:

    Tube/amp ?

Can't say much about newer tube amps, but for vintage gear, I'd recommend Harman/Kardon's Citation II. I've got one that I've mildly upgraded, and it drives my Sequels, full range, very well. I'm not sure what the sensitivity of the Summit's panels are, but the Citation would have no trouble...

L.F. driver replacement for original Sequel?

Greetings! Hopefully I'll be getting my Sequels out of storage soon. Miss them. I'm planning on a long overdue panel replacement, but I'm wondering if anybody knows of a good replacement L.F. driver? I don't know the specs on the original drivers. The rubber surrounds separated from the cones...

First post in a LONG time!

And as usual, I've been away! I moved to South Dakota last year to help my adopted sister, but while there I became seriously ill. I headed back to Cali to be close to specialists. I'm mostly healed now, but not completely there yet. During my time back here I found out a very good friend of...

First post in a LONG time!

Hey everybody! I've been really busy with work and relocating and life and all that. But I'm still around, still got my trusty Sequels (which need new panels BADLY now....) and I'm in the process of building a new amp & preamp. All tube of course. My Sony Blu-Ray player croaked earlier in the...

    Snap! Crackle! Pop!

Thanks again guys for the advice! It's still happening, although not so severe now. I've checked for arcing and so far found nothing, and the panels are as clean as I can get them with vacuuming. I'll get them apart to refinish the rails (tired of oak) and I'll go through all the connections...

    Snap! Crackle! Pop!

Thanks guys for the replies and advice. The panels are doing this independent of the amp or preamp. If I unplug them, the symptoms show up when I plug them in, or when I turn the system on and the ML's come out of standby mode. The stators and membranes are as clean as I can make them. I'll try...

    Snap! Crackle! Pop!

Thanks Jordan! Yeah, I will contact them at some point. Instinct tells me I need new panels, but time will tell on that. They or other Forum members here may have a specific experience like mine and will be able to steer me in the right direction.

    Snap! Crackle! Pop!

Greetings all! Recently I moved to my new place with my honey (fortunately she likes my ML Sequels) and after setting them up, I noticed that the membranes in the panels had become a little wrinkled with the change in the environment, and from the move itself. I VERY carefully worked the...

Hard to believe it's been 25 years

I watched it live on TV. One of the few times in my life I saw my father cry. He was a subcontractor on the Shuttle design (landing gear) and did a lot of work with the program. That week at work he found out through his buddy network that engineers had been swamping NASA with calls not to...

    Been awhile

Hey everybody! It's been quite awhile since I've posted here. Been really busy and I haven't had the time. Last April I was laid off when the local branch office of my employer shut down, and I haven't been able to find work since then. With my brother-in-law's help, I'm getting the house ready...

    Cleaning Tube Preamps

I've noticed that too on my McIntosh. I've used cleaners/preservatives in the past and I've found the same issue. When I get it ready for sale, I'll be thoroughly cleaning pins & sockets. 3M adhesive remover works very well as it leaves no oils behind. Or a general electronic parts cleaner...

Turntable Mods - Bolt on - Add on

That's really interesting! I may have to try that on my Project 1.2 cheapie. Good job!:rocker:
