    Resonance (distortion) in ESL 13a

Hi, Update on my OP: 1) I did a sine sweep on the ESL 13 and found that the resonance occurred at about 195 Hz. 2) Borrowed a pair of bookshelf speakers from my neighbor and heard the same thing. So concluded that it's something in the room and not the speakers. 3) Got a couple of scraps of...

    Next Step Up?

I went from Ethos => Montis => ESL 13. There was a clear improvement at each step. I choose Montis over Summit X primarily because Montis was cheaper yet the panel size of the Montis was the same. If you have a sub already, then the fact that the Summit X has larger woofers than the Montis...

    The MartinLogan / Planète Haute-Fidélité Room |

Is that the Best Buy at the Crossgates Mall? I live in Syracuse and had to drive there to audition my current 13a's !

Poor air quality, the fires in Canada

Easiest solution is to cover them with plastic bags. I do this all the time with the plastic shipping bags that the speakers came in when any cooking is going on in the house. At other times, when not in use, I use the black cloth bags that the speakers were shipped in.

Hypothetical Question - Accidents with Food/ Drink on ESL panel

So has anyone remove the panel from ESL13a for the shower treatment? I can't remember seeing any threads specific to 13a. I doubt that there are that many out there requiring refurbishing yet though. Too new a model.

Hypothetical Question - Accidents with Food/ Drink on ESL panel

The other day my wife was walking in front of the ML ESL 13 and tripped while carrying a glass of wine. The wine went flying out of the glass but fortunately missed the speaker completely. Disaster averted, but it got me to wondering, what should I have done if the wine actually landed on the...

    Need answer to simple question.

Well, as famous astronomer Carl Sagan is reputed to have said, "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof".

    Need answer to simple question.

That's so true about vehicles. I had a Mazda RX-7 once upon a time that I was very proud of. I swear to God, every time I washed it, it was quicker, smoother, and for some reason, it cornered better.

A Sincere From My Heart Question Regarding the Future of ML ESL

Agreed. Although in the '70's there was a speaker that used a plasma as the speaker material : "The Hill Plasmatronic Gas Discharge Speaker". You had to connect a tank of helium to the speaker since I think Helium was used as the plasma material. Plasma is virtually massless. Not very...

LOL, I was the OP on that thread. I'd completely forgotten.

A Sincere From My Heart Question Regarding the Future of ML ESL

Yeah a few years back when I owned Montis, the blue LED that illuminated the ML signature logo burned out. I contacted ML and the service was amazing. Basic handholding till I replaced the LED myself. And I'm not Mr. Handyman. I have no reason to believe that anything has changed at least in...

A Sincere From My Heart Question Regarding the Future of ML ESL

I never understood why ML discontinued the CLX. I currently have the 13A. Going to the CLX would be a natural upgrade for me but that option is now closed. When was the Masterpiece lineup released (2015/16 ?) ? It's now 8 years since a new ESL design has been released.

    Network Streamer?

I've got a Hegel H590 integrated amp. The Hegel DAC is pretty good. Maybe the Cambridge Audio CXN will be better. But I'm really just looking for the convenience of being able to run Tidal from my phone and not my wife's laptop!
