Hi Robert. I sounds like you have an ESL C18. Just wondering what kind of centre channel speaker did you use before you installed the ESL C18 and whether there was a significant imporvement in sound. Are you driving the ESL C18 with your AV receiver or a mono power amplifier connected to your AV...
Just like to know if you find the ESL C a good centre channel speaker. There are no ELS C demonstration units in Australia. If I buy, I have to do that in blind faith. Thanks
Hi Rascal,
The current amplifier that I use now to drive my ESL11A is creating a sound that is a bit "thin'.
I am considering buying anothet amplifier that address this "thiness' issue.
That is why I have research Benchmark AHB2 (I have owned a Benchmark DAC in the pass).
You mentioned that...
@andrew.hendler
Hi Andrew,
Did you find the mid-range of the Pass Lab INT60 and X150.8 rich or thin?
Were the human voices more forward or recessed?
I have just bought a ESL11A about one month ago and am thinking of getting a Pass Lab INT, X or XA.
Thanks.
Benchmark Media Systems and Martin Logan have demonstrated the AHB2 power amp and ESL11A together at audio shows in 2017 and 2018.
I guess that say something about the compatibility.

The gramophone used to be state of the art in audio reproduction in 1880s. The CD player became the latest tech in the 1980s, one hundred years later.
The companies that made gramophones have not exist for a long time and the companies that make CD players will also cease to exist at some stage...
I spoke with Kevin today. I will audition the Pass Lab XA30.8 when he has one available for demo.
He told me he advised you that two subs are even better.
Kevin is right, I have been using 2 subs with my Focal speakers. It is much better than 1 sub. The difference between 2 and 1 sub is major...
This is a really amazing system!
How did you know that the modifications to your CJ amps were going to make the sound better but not worse? Do you use a tuning specialist that does to audio equipment what some mechanics do to stock vehicles to converted them into higher performance cars (e.g...
I have also listened to Vitus amp paring with ESL13A and ESL11A (at Class A Audio in Melbourne). The Vitus amp really demonstrated the great potential that the ESL speakers actually have. I heard significant step improvements in sound as the quality of the amplifiers were uplifted from Anthem...
@zigman
Thanks for your post.
I bought ELS11A a few weeks ago and am looking for a new amplifier because my NuPrime ST-10 150W 4ohm power amp pairing delivers a "thin" mid range where the vocals sound quite recessed and a "forward" upper range where the cymbals sound very pronounced.
Just...
When I bought my ELS11A less than 1 month ago, I audition it with 3 integrated amplifies: (1) Anthem STR; (2) Accuphase E280 and; (3) Audiaflight FLS10.
The Anthem STR pairing presented the least amount of detail amongst those three setups. I found the ESL11A can deliver a lot with the right...
Thanks Big Dog.
I have applied some room treatment, made some speaker placement changes and applied some base volume adjustments at the back of the ESL11A. None of that made much difference. I have ordered the ML ARC kit and will try it out when it arrives.
After burning in the ESL11A for about...
