    Amp question Ss or tube?

If you're that curious, see if you can borrow one. But all tube amplifiers are not the same, any more than all amplifiers are the same. If you have an amp you're happy with now, I would be inclined to keep it. Don't go chasing some abstraction of "tube amplifier" people are raving about...

    Amp question Ss or tube?

David Manley, in his "Vacuum Tube Logic Book", boasts of the quality of his bifilar wound OTL's. The OTL is the Achilles Heel of a classic tube power amp, so maybe his special transformers help. Paul McGowan, the designer of the BHK-250, is not a fan of tube outputs, but likes them hybridized...

    Amp question Ss or tube?

It's true that what speakers you like and what amp you like to power them with is ultimately a subjective thing. But they are governed by some objective principles of physics. One of them is that Martin Logan ESL's--particularly the full range models--have impedance curves whose magnitudes dip...

Solid State Power Amp for Impression 11A speakers

I suspect a large number of audio fanatics are single.

Solid State Power Amp for Impression 11A speakers

It's not that you would ever be dumping full power at 20khz into your speakers (heaven help your ears if you did). It's that wide impedance swings driven by an amp with high effective impedance will result in roll-off of the highs. There is also the slight chance the low capacitive impedance...

    Room Size ? Esl 15a

If you truly got a good deal on ML's current flagship product I would have done exactly the same thing, and dealt with the room mismatch later. I think you can make them work, if not, save them for another living situation. The built-in ARC will at least help the bass.

Expression 13A, Source, Motion series Atmos tops and sides

Sounds a lot like the old LEDE (live end-dead end) concept. I started to read, but was interrupted by obnoxious pop-up requiring me to register.

Hello from Seal Beach, CA.... New ESL13As on the way!...

never mind, just read the rest of your post.

Hello from Seal Beach, CA.... New ESL13As on the way!...

Side wall reflections are less of an issue with ESL's, but not a non-issue--especially with ML's, with their 30 degree dispersion pattern. Have you considered heavy drapes--ideally drapes designed as acoustic absorbers-- across the glass doors that can be drawn for serious listening?

Anyone still streaming with a Squeezebox Touch or Transporter?

I like "Orphaned Music Server", as a jab against Logitech, being the first of two companies they have devoured, then spit out (the second being Harmony). "Liberated Music Server" is clever, a take off on the "set your music free" splash screen".

Best way to transport ESL 11a with out boxes?

Presumably the trailer has straps. Still, on their sides is the most stable position. Just be sure they are constrained from sliding around. They will fit along the 8' dimension, right? One woofer enclosure at one end and one at the other.

Best way to transport ESL 11a with out boxes?

Even if it weren't that cheap, how much is not damaging an expensive pair of speakers worth to you? That being said, I moved my CLS II's across the entire state of Massachusetts to Albany, NY in an open pickup, on a stunning autumn day, which I still remember very well. But they were broken...

SOLD my CLX, to me again!

That's how the economics of scarcity work, I guess. And even if a pair of CLx's turned up down unda for a killer price, shipping here, in northeastern US, would probably be a deal breaker. I believe I have the amps (Parasound JC-1 monoblocks) but not necessarily the space. I barely have the...

    Favorite YouTube Channels?

I enjoy Steve Guttenberg's "Audiophilliac", even though his tastes in music and in audio gear are, for the most part, 180 degrees out from mine. My favorite feature, by far, is the viewer systems. When he goes on and on about his favorite rock albums it gets a big yawn from me. But I do like...
