    CLX Audition

I have yet to hear a CLX with subs. A question for those with this setup (CLX with ML subs in particular), or have heard this setup: Is it better to connect the amp to the sub's line outs? Or to have a Y-connector (or a preamp that has two mains outs) feed both the ML sub and the amp for the CLXes?

    Just ordered my CLX's

Congrats! very nice indeed. Could I ask what are the dimensions of your room? (Length, Width, Height) to better appreciate suitability to different rooms. Thanks!

    Avantgarde

One of the very best demos I've heard was the complete Avantgarde set, with the bass module. Large room needed, where they sounded "live," particularly a Hugh Masakela CD with killer vocals. "Dynamic" doesn't even begin to describe it. Having said that, a CLX + 2 Depths would still be my...

    Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2009

Performing This Week: Live at Ronnie Scott's The bass player is Aussie lass Tal Wilkenfield, 23 years young. The other band members are first-rate too: Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), Jason Rebello (keyboards). Clapton and Joss Stone are featured guests. Awesome disc! Thanks for the coverage!

    CLX with tube amps

Jeff, were you able to try them with ARC Ref 110 and how was that match?

    Silverstone Hi-Fi Show 2009

Thanks for the pix. Yeah, ARC stuff just looks "right" to me. A CLX center channel, now that's just the thing! :D

    Large or Small

I'd suggest setting your Aeons to Large for music and Small for movies. Cinema and Scripts set to Small for all applications.

    Quad Amp with Vantages

Power output should be no problem. But you might want to check if the 909 can handle the low impedance. I used to have a Quad 405 and it couldn't. You're looking for a graph of power vs. impedance. HTH.

Ooops .. I did it again...

Good to know the Vantages do well with low power; not usually heard about MLs. Am kinda noting, though, that Double D has an amp that does 360 watts into 4 ohms. We don't hear about many BC-ML pairings these days, so please indulge, DD!

    The 25 Rules Of Hi-Fi

here's one of my faves... "If you are not a rich audiophile, you must immediately become one." (This needs to be read in context. It was taken from a review written in saitre form, by Anthony Cordesman, I believe, from a 1980s review of big-bucks Infinity RS1's, IIRC. Quite applicable in...

    Summit X review up!

Thanks for the link to your review, Jeff, good job as usual. About room treatments and MLs... Just wanted to link this interesting article about when Gayle Sanders first encountered room treatments that were so extensive as to dampen the backwave. Said Gayle, "That whole experience has...

Spent a day with the BIG Soundlab M1

Thanks for your post CAP. You don't read about many comparisons like this. About "master tapes" - where can they be sourced?

    CLX ....dreamin'

Jeff, That is an outstanding 200-word comparison review! It tells me why I don't like the Wilson sound (despite my best efforts at trying to like it), and why I probably won't like Magicos. The bit about Avalons is very instructive too. I recognize that it's not logistically easy to do...

    Sunday Morning Music

Oh man don't get me started on Lucia. SHe is also on the Josh Groban Blu-Ray. BTW, great song, that one. The original by Michel Colombier has Toots Thielemans playing the violin's part. Heavenly.
