I too, had both of my woofers repaired and they also work great. Seems to me that if you replaced the woofers with an off the shelf driver, it wouldn't be the same.
Would it be worthwhile to replace the capacitors in the Prodigy crossovers? Has anyone done this and what were the improvements. Also what would be a good replacement ML speaker for the Prodigys to really upgrade? Lots of questions as I don't have access to a lot of equipment in my area.
The Prodigy panels ended up taking about 5 months for delivery. ML says they have 1 individual building the panels. This is understandable considering Covid and material supply. I had no problem waiting, it was well worth it. Awesome speakers, enjoying them very much.
Very good pair of Prodigy replacement panels. I didn't really need to replace these panels, but decided to purchase new panels while they were still available. Had to wait 5 months on the replacements. Panels are in very good shape and will be shipped in the box that the new ones came in. Also...
Has anyone had trouble getting replacement Prodigy panels in the last 4 or 5 months? I ordered a set in February and still haven't received them. When I ordered the panels, I was quoted 12-14 weeks to get them made.
That is the way that I am currently leaning, I had the front woofers rebuilt and I have 2 extra power supplies for them. Also have a spare front woofer that isn't available anymore.
Looking to either replace the Prodigy panels or upgrade to a newer model. I haven't heard any of the newer models and really can't afford most of them. I was looking at a pair of Summits, but realized they are almost as old as the Prodigys. Any suggestions appreciated.
Yes, the panels are around $3,000. Was looking at a used pair of Summits, but discovered they are only slightly newer than the Prodigy and I have never heard the Summit.
Looking to either replace the panels in my Prodigys or upgrade to a newer model. Open to suggestions as I am not familiar with any of the newer models.
I did some checking and found that the rear woofer was working. The front woofer bit the dust. Here we go again, another $114. I did hear a pop in the speakers, that must have been the woofer. I am getting it repaired and getting rid of these nightmares. I got ripped off big time on these.
Now I have a new problem, on one of the speakers, the front and rear woofers stopped working. These speakers are wearing me out. Guess I need to find a schematic for the crossovers.
Good new, I sent the woofer away and had it repaired. The turnaround time was only 7 working days. While the woofer was out, I washed the panels twice. Installed the woofer and the Prodigy's are performing as they should. Bass is no problem now, as I don't have to crank up the volume on the panels.
Roberto,
I am well aware that the crossover was designed for a specific woofer. Problem is the original front woofer is no longer available. Martin Logan recommends the Scanspeak Classic 25W/8565-00-10 that is available from Madisound. I happened to remember a great speaker repair shop in...
OK, I turned the speaker upside down. I actually had to force the cone down, the coil was rubbing so bad. I will leave it for a day or so just to see what happens. I am looking for someone to repair if first and then look for replacements. Replace one, guess I have to replace both. Nothing...
