Looking for amplifier ideas for Aeon i's

Another vote for Classe I'd definitely second Amey01's recommendation for the Classe CA 101. I currently drive my MLs with a Classe 101 connected directly to a Wadia CDP (ie no preamp) and it sounds magic. Good luck!

    CD Players with volume controls

I'd second Kenscollick's view.................. Wadia would offer the ideal CD solution. Digital volume control in at least one hundred discrete steps, and possibly the best CD replay currently available!

How did that dog get inside the speaker?

I don't have a dog.............but Give Roger Water's Amused to Death album a spin. The opening to track 1 also has a dog barking, but you would swear that the dog is barking in your next door neighbor's back yard! Actually, there's lots of interesting spatial effects on this disc as it was...

    Metal or Paper?

Thanks to all for your replies. Robin, I appreciate your response, and am intrigued by your comments about the Prodigy using both paper and aluminium drivers. It would be interesting to know what ML's rationale was for using a both materials together in the one model. Ps. Robin, please don't...

    Metal or Paper?

I have read a few posts here on the forum referring to ML's new models featuring 'aluminium' coned woofers being 'faster' than the older models which used 'paper' cones. While I haven't actually heard any of the newer models yet myself, doesn't this viewpoint contradict popular opinion which...

    Sl 3 SPEAKER SPIKES

As Dan said, using tall spikes will lighten the bass, but there is an upside to this. Having the bass driver so close to the floor introduces early sound wave reflections off the floor which tend to muddy up the perceived bass sounds. Raising the speakers actually helps to make the bass sound...

    Sl 3 SPEAKER SPIKES

OergonDV 2.15" Brass Floor Cones / Speaker Spikes Hi, Haven't tried the ML ETC spikes, but I just last week bought a set of the 2.15" brass spikes from OregonDV and have been really happy with the improvement over the standard ML spikes supplied. Plus they are a lot cheaper too!

    subwoofer complement

Sealed box, small driver/s and fast! Aris, Don't worry too much about specs in choosing a sub, but try and demo some at home to see what you like best. For me, I found that the smaller upmarket M&K models provided a great synergy with my Scenarios, and I would recommend both the MX700 and...

    Power cable query

Hi, This might seem like a silly question, but I am contemplating an upgrade to the power cables for my MLs and power amp, and wondered if anyone can advise whether I can use use cables designed for a 120 volt supply on a 240 volt supply? Thanks for any advice.

Would the appearance of the Summit stop you from buying it?

There's 'summit' wrong with the way they look! I couldn't see myself buying a pair of Summits. One of the hallmarks of the ML range (apart from the superb sound quality) has always been the industrial design and pleasant aesthetics. IMO the Summits are a complete departure from the...

how can I tell if my panels were ever replaced

Don't worry! ricksaudio, If you are referring to the front and rear stators separating along the vertical edges, don't worry, this is quite common. The stators are bonded at the top and bottom, but only held together by double sided adhesive tape on the sides. When the panels are installed...

    The Martin Logan sound?

Sounds good to me! David, What sort of wine have you been drinking, 'coz' I think I might buy a bottle and drink it while listening to my Martin Logans. Cheers

    Any ladies in the forum?

kach22i (and any offended parties), Please know that it was not my intention to cause offense to any 'non-males', and if I have unwittingly done so, then I hope those parties will accept my sincerest apologies. If by any chance there are still non-males in existence who enjoy being referred to...

    Any ladies in the forum?

Hi, Just wondering whether any ladies looked in on, or contributed to this forum. I know that interest in audio has traditionally been the domain of males, but I'd be interested to hear about any ladies that share in this hobby, and what sort of systems are used. Cheers
