Often, we need a bit of light on the gear in the rack to adjust some setting, change a disc, etc. But lighting in the rack is usually non-existent.

Two methods of dealing with this are to get a clamp-on gooseneck LED work light like this:

BTW- I have this unit and it’s great. It's also reasonable at $20 or so.

Other choices:

Or the ‘audiophile approved’ high buck version:

This Steel look one clamps to surfaces as thick as 2.5”:

Or to mount to the underside of a shelf (or to a vertical bar) a pair of units like this:

Add a small USB hub with a power source, and you can run up to four off these with one AC adaptor.
Put the AC adaptor on a X10 or Z-wave relay plug, and you can even remote control these. That’s what I do with my rack lights.

Other tube LED lights:

BTW- a pair of 24 or 48 inch long versions of these would make a nice rear-facing light strip on the back of ML to light the wall behind as seen in this thread on lighting.

Or these strip lights :

What other tricks and products do you all use to light your rack?

I like the striplights, hadn't seen those yet  The Littlites are the tried and true, but I recommend the halogen bulb, not the LED, because the LED isn't dimmable. I also recommend the shelf fitting or counter-socket fittings not the weighted base.

They're not quite that expensive. You can buy them direct here: http://www.littlitestore.com/Littlite_Lampsets.htm

IKEA makes a bunch of inexpensive lamps as well. I am using one. Check my system page.

I use these touch lights. I velcro them to the underside of the shelf and they are hidden but when pressed they really light the equipment up. They are $3 at Target. On the back of the rack I use a LED strip so when I'm back in the jungle of wires I can see.

I looked at some battery powered goose neck lights at Bed Bath and beyond yesterday. I want to get something that is not to bright for the back of the CLS .
