FX2 or Motion 12 for surround

Hi,

I'm new to the ML world. I just picked up a pair of used EM ESL over the weekend and trying to built a HT system around them. Is there any design advantage to use FX2 speakers vs motion 12's? The motion 12's are a little cheaper and I would assume have more bass.

Well you are right. But they are floor standing so unless you have the room to accommodate them they can be difficult to use as surrounds in general. But if you can then yes they will perform better as a whole. The FX2's are great wide dispersion surround speakers, so this application is what they are made for.

If you have the room, go with 12. If you value your floor space go with FX2.
