Got the choice between my first girl friend( she cried when she found them in the little apartment we shared) and my first CLS's still got the Logans haven't seen the girl 20 years, made the right choice!! My second wife loved my Statement E2's, and they took up some serious space!
KSA and FPB amps are both great, FPB has more regulation ( more stuff that can break).
All FPB and KSA's are relatively old the non cast FPB's are over 10 years the KSA's even older, that is a long time for class A amps, they run hot!! I bought my FPB 600c new 12 year ago and it has served me...
I owned a commercial recording studio in Miami about 10 years ago. Got in to the business out of my love of music, and high end audio. I observed how the process of making music changed, from bands booking studio time and spending 2-6 weeks or more with professional mix engineers and producers...
I found pure music on memory play to be a huge improvement, maybe because i use external hard-drives with my Mac. Before pure music, songs from the internal drive always sounded best ! A good CD player still sounds better to me !
I do like the convenience of iTunes and my iPhone, have even got a...
Who cares if he can sing!! Put on "Slow train coming" and enjoy gospel music performed by Dylan with Mark Knopfler and Pick Withers from Dire Straits as studio musicians!! Great sound! To my ears the CD layer on the SACD sounds less dynamic than the CD remaster, but that could be depending on CD...
CD or computer ?
I use a Mac laptop with iTunes and Pure Music software into a seperate D/A converter with good result! But the highs sound better on my Krell CD player, to my ears a good transport still has the edge!!
Fix your room first, to bright a room will mess up your soundstage to. A treated room is a must, but the right cables can give your components a synergy that is missing. There must be plenty of cables out there that warm up the midrange.
Most dealers will let you try them out, they dont have...
What cables are you using ? The cables that are sounding great with your Harbeth speakers, might be to bright for your Summits. Try Cardas Golden Reference or Straightwire Virtuoso, these cables do magic on midrange brightnes.
I am using a Krell FPB 600c with great result on my CLS1, the FPB 300 , FPB 400CX or FPB 350 mono's should be inside you budget.
CLS1 needs the control in the lows that these amps offer!
I am a new member, but longtime Martin Logan owner.
Bought my first CLS 23 years ago, and still use them today, have had other ML speakers, even the biggest, but still love the magic of the original CLS!!
