MartinLogan announces breakthrough Monoray ESL line

Any update on the Monoray series? April 1st introduction with a seemingly real brochure, but . . . was this really a joke after all?

    System #55 (Expression 13A's)

Thanks. I must have missed the email from them because I was on their emailing list. I do have their 105 but should have traded up to the 205 when it came out as I did with all of their other previous models. Your system is one of my favorites. Great job of putting your system together!

Where were you able pick up an Oppo UDP-205?

The new Renaissance & Expression design

I noticed that the cross over point on the Expression is 300. The Summits are at 270. I would think that 270 would be better since the panel would be slightly more prominent. Also, The Expression goes down to 24 Hz just like the Summits. The cabinets have two 10 inch "asymmetrical" woofers...

Anyone used "Acoustic Fields" Products? http://www.acousticfields.com/

27 views with NO responses. Has no one ever heard of or used any of Acoustic Fields products? If not, please check out their web site and offer your opinion. http://www.acousticfields.com/ Yes, I know some of the stuff is not cheap, but most good "gear" isn't. There is a wealth of acoustic...

Anyone used "Acoustic Fields" Products? http://www.acousticfields.com/

Anyone used "Acoustic Fields" Products? http://www.acousticfields.com/ I have not seen any posts, even after searching the MLO site, so I decided to start a new thread. I am not happy with the current sound coming from my Summits and attribute most of the problems to the room. I'm...

    System #361 (CLX, Descent i)

Ken, That is one heck of a "primer"! I book marked and and will check it out later. The GIK Diffusors look interesting and are reasonably priced. I think I will start with behind the Summits and then move to the corners for starters. I agree with you that first reflection points may not be an...

Ken, Once again THANK YOU for all the input. I get the "learning as I go" part. That is why I am asking so many questions, as room acoustics don't some cheap, especially when you're just experimenting on your own. Seeing I may move the system, I want to purchase pieces that will work in just...

GIK Screen Panel - anyone using this product?

I believe you can just stack them in the corner. You can check them out on the GIK web site. I'm trying to not "attach" anything to the walls right now! TFA

GIK Screen Panel - anyone using this product?

Tom, Actually I did, but you can imagine once I put the word "panel" in the search, I would have spent the next week looking at hundreds of posts that were refering to the ML panel! I am interested spcifically in the GIK "Screen Panel" product. This looks to be a very versatile "tool" one...

GIK Screen Panel - anyone using this product?

Thanks Brad! Since I have NO room treatments currently, I thought having two of these panels to move around the room (unfolded for absorption and folded for bass trapping) would be a good way to experiment. I will now keep the GIK Tri-Traps in mind. The ASC tude traps ar another option for...

    System #361 (CLX, Descent i)

VERY NICE SYSTEM!!!! I don't think it was mentioned anywhere in the thread . . . . Who is the manufacturer of your component stand and where did you purchase them? Do they make a bottom section so you could put a component nearer to the the floor? I currently have a Salamander Synergy unit...

    System #361 (CLX, Descent i)

Hope that helps! Ken Thanks for the picture and detailed explanation! I'll do a little more research but have been putting on paper some possible configurations, and combinations of products, and of course adding up the cost! Once I have a few possible set ups, I'm going to call Ethan at...

GIK Screen Panel - anyone using this product?

I have been researching different acoustic treatments and thought the GIK Screen Panel would be a good place to start as it measure 32" wide X 72" high and are 3.5" thick. Now the panels are actually 16" wide, but there is a hinge in the center that allows them to be folded. So folded you have a...

    System #361 (CLX, Descent i)

RUR, "My advice is to try it both ways. IME, placing a tube trap directly behind the speaker killed far too much ambience. I settled on large dia. tube traps in the front (and rear) corners for bass absorption, plus a 2x4x6" "flat" trap on the front wall near each corner to absorb 100Hz-20kHz...

    System #361 (CLX, Descent i)

Just curious, did you ever try flat panels behind the Summits, Like Real Traps or GIK? What is that white panel to the side in your picture? About how far back from the Summit woofer case is the Tube Trap? Evidently whatever the distance, you feel that the Trap is absorbing the back wave and...

Real traps behind Summits --------------------------------------------------------------------------- See this is where I get confused . . . If the panels are at least 5 feet from the front wall, which mine are (or will be in the finished basement), my question is it better to have a free...

    System #361 (CLX, Descent i)

I didn't see an answer to this question from awhile back. I am looking seriously at Real Traps and for behind my Summits and am torn between Mini Traps or Mondo "Fat" 6" Traps 2' X 4', or the regular Mondo Traps which are 2' X - 4'9". Would have to either stack these on 2' X 2' Mondos, OR use a...

How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

I too own the Sanders ESL amp with a pair of Summits and a Cary SLP-03 pre-amp. I've had it for about three years and it's great. I have never run out of power no matter what I play and no matter how loud I play it! I can't imagine what more the Magtech brings to the party for the extra $1,000...

Replacement for Script i coming this fall

Peter, Thank you for your response. I need some speakers now for the basement to keep my 16 year old daughter happy and I figure if I purchased the new Scripts now for fronts, I can use them later down the road as surround speakers. This would also be a great excuse to buy a sub too! I used to...
