ESL - endless need of panel replacements

I think they say that because it's the easiest way they have to be sure the panels are discharged when cleaned. 'Be sure that the speakers don't receive any audio signal for two days, bla bla' sounds confusing, and, in a house with several people, you would have to put a 'don't turn on system'...

ESL - endless need of panel replacements

Don't every modern ML enter standby mode and disconnect the panel's power supply after some time without audio signal? My Montis do that, it's easily perceived when you start playing music and during the first second the speakers are 'dead' and then they charge and start sounding.

ESL - endless need of panel replacements

Almost no house in Uruguay has central A/C, only commercial or office buildings. Split A/C is the norm and we use them around 20 days a year, climate is mild and for winter heating we use radiating heated floors. Early autumn, late spring and most summer days it's just open windows.

ESL - endless need of panel replacements

I live in Montevideo, Uruguay. We don't have a hot climate, but humidity is always high, 80-100% is common, never had problem with panels. The air here is quite clean though, very little polution and I vaccum the panels every 45 - 60 days. It's probably a combination of humidity and polution...

    Martin Logan Purity sound issue

Hello, What I would do if, after vaccum, the problem remains. (I'm assuming your speakers are not under warranty) - interchange the speakers (L<->R) to discard a problem with the amp and be sure the problem is in the speaker - If so, - open the faulty speaker and check for any loose...

    ML panel obscene pricing

I'm abroad also, but I live in Uruguay, where there is no ML dealer/distributor. I've been able to buy panels directly from ML US and then import them myself. ML support has been always exellent, a couple of years ago I bought a used pair of Montis in the US after ML Support gave me instructions...

    ML panel obscene pricing

Replaced my Odyssey's panels in 2014, $1714 ($1639 + $75 S&H) for the pair. The speakers msrp was $6495 in 2001 so the replacement panel cost was fine for me.

    I’m back!

Hi, the Stellar M1200 were $6K a pair in 2020, don't know if their price has been raised, but they cannot be up to $14K. By the way I am trying a pair of the smaller brother Stellar M700 with my Montis and they sound dull, boring and dry. (The M1200 are a newer class D design and have a...

    Front Wall Treatment for Electrostats

One more vote for diffusers, my solution is way less 'proffesional', the wall behind the speakers has a bookshelf on it, with book placement choosen as to act as a diffuser. I do have absorvers on the wall behind the listening position, as it is too close to be optimal.

I moved from the US (120) ⇨ Norway (240) with two ML Requests speakers how to make them work?

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear enough. What ML sent me were the instructions to disable the 'frequency lock' you mention, still present in the Montis model, the board itself is multivoltage. Don't know how it was implemented in previous models, cannot help with that.

I moved from the US (120) ⇨ Norway (240) with two ML Requests speakers how to make them work?

Try to contact ML directly. In my case, I live in Uruguay, no ML dealers here. I wanted to buy a used pair of ML Montis in the US and import it. I asked ML if I could do that and buy 220V circuit boards for them. As an answer they sent me instructions on how to convert the Montises from 110V to...

I purchased a Depth i today and I live in Europe. Can I connect it to a 220V? Thank you

Hi Tosh, I was aware of the policy regarding grey imports, that's why I contacted ML before buying the Montis, telling them honestly what I wanted to do and how much a 220V power board would cost. They simply replied with the conversion instructions for the Montis and Summit X (also being...

It's a pitty you don't like the newer powered MLs. WAF is muuuch higher.

I agree, is personal preference. I have no problem with well implemented class-D amplifiers. I wonder why you kept the ReQuests and didn't move to a newer Odyssey or Prodigy.

Maggies or ML is just a personal choice. I agree with you that spending $2600 in a Sequel is maybe too much. What about a used ML of the previous generation? A few years old pair of Montis would be around $4000 and it's a great speaker.

Options for refreshing/replacing my 28 year old CLS speakers.

Hi Spike, If you consider frequencies below the crossover point, that's a different issue. You have extra panel surface for those frequencies in the CLX, but you don't need it in the other models as those frequencies are handled by the dynamic driver. The 'work' the high frequencies panel has to...
