    ESL with a problem

Just to complete the story arc here ML support had me swap the panels but the issue remained with the box so I bought a new power supply board and once that was installed the speaker worked as new. Disassembly wasn't as straightforward as the instructions indicated as i needed to remove the...

    ESL with a problem

Vacuum did nothing to change the problem as expected. I'll swap the panels tomorrow morning.

    ESL with a problem

Yes they're ESL's. ML got back to me with instructions on swapping the panels so i'll do that tomorrow as they're recommending they be unplugged for 24 hours and vacuumed first.

    ESL with a problem

Good day everyone. I recently acquired a pair of ML ESL's on the used market that I had shipped to me. They were sent in the OEM boxes and appear to be in excellent condition. The issue however is that one of the panels emits a garbled sound. I've swapped the left and right speakers so I know...

    Preface vs Motion

I'd get a set of used electro stats for the mains and use your klipchse for the rear surrounds. For the center use a motion or encore and upgrade later if you need to. Your yammie should be ok with that load if you don't push it to extreme volumes though as always a dedicated power amp would...

Martin Logan Speakers On Hard Wood Floors

I have mine on spikes on my hardwood floor and just use pennies to stop the spike from damaging the floor.

Subwoofer City! Name Those Deep Bass Tracks Now!

My favorite bass track is Improvisation from Jim Keltner. I got it on a give away demo from Usher at CES. Its the "The 25th Int'l Audio Video Taipei Hi-End Music CD" and has a few really well recorded tracks but Improvisation will really give your system a work out. Seems there's a YouTube clip...

    Preface vs Motion

The sweet spot maybe isn't huge but it is pretty good and in a normal room works great. Its the center that needs the wider dispersion then the mains in a theater set up.

    Preface vs Motion

I use an Encore as my center and it works well enough between the Aerius i's. I will likely upgrade to a 'proper' matching center at some point but I don't find it as bad as I thought it might.

    If Not Logans...

I helped run the demo's for Usher audio at CES a few years ago. It was so much fun and from then on I've lusted after the BE20's (or smaller versions). I can see why they wouldn't work in a bedroom though :D. Did you get the chance to listen to their 6000 series though? They're a lot less...

Any tips on Soundproofing an existing wall?

To block bass you need mass...and lots of it. Blocking higher frequency noise is fairly easy and affordable with dense sheet rock etc but getting the deep bass noise tamed is very difficult.

Any tips on Soundproofing an existing wall?

It is extremely difficult to block bass as it travels through walls fairly easily unless it runs into something very dense. There are ways and various products that can help but it typically isn't cheap and at the end of the day not always that effective (for bass)

Plasma vs LCD flatscreen - how to evaluate?

There's almost 10,000 posts in this AVS thread on the subject! http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1167339 I haven't kept pace with it to know if there is now a safe list or not but given Panasonics refusal to admit it is even an issue I'm reluctant to recommend it to anyone I talk to.

Plasma vs LCD flatscreen - how to evaluate?

There's tons of info on AVS about the problem if you really want to get into it.

Plasma vs LCD flatscreen - how to evaluate?

I'd avoid Panasonic at the moment as well. Which is unfortunate as they are nice sets. My current recommendation to clients is to get the Samsung. Apparently the Vizio's aren't that bad either...esp if $$ is an issue

Plasma vs LCD flatscreen - how to evaluate?

A lot will depend on what you intend to use the TV for an where/when you want view it. As has been said Plasmas have glass screens which reflect light like a mirror in bright light. They still tend to have the better image quality esp black level. The LCD's can be had with glossy screens as well...

    flat screen tv above fireplace

Do not put it above the fireplace if at all possible. The viewing angle will hurt your neck and won't be comfortable at all.
