    Preface Placment Help

Hi Jim, I called ML and the 2-3 ft reference is from the front grill of the speaker to the wall behind. Since I was having some problems near field I moved my Prefaces toward the front wall almost ten inches. They are now 3.5ft from the wall. I'm further away now and the sound has expanded...

    Preface Placment Help

Hi Everyone, I have a question on the Preface placement. When we say 2-3 ft from the front wall is that measured from the wall to the front of the speaker enclosure? The actual grill? Or is it to the back rear edge of the base of the speaker? Man this may have been a major screwup when I...

    Preface Placment Help

Gordon I have to say that these are some of the trickiest speakers to set up I have ever owned. Toe-in changes of one inch make worlds of difference in the imaging and distance out into the room really affects bass. But as you said it changes with every recording somewhat. I'm still wondering...

    Preface Placment Help

I will give it a try using a recording I know well. I hope the speakers don't let me down. The amp and pre are beautiful sounding. And the room is ideal. Different recordings have been playing with my head so I will find something I can use for a reference. It would be nice to find some...

    Preface Placment Help

I still have no idea what 1/3 inner facing is so I am just going to toe them in slightly for now. I have them 8 ft apart and two feet from the front wall. I am sitting nine feet away or so. No matter what I do the imaging changes from one source to another and there really is not much bass. I...

    Preface Placment Help

The new Audio Advisor catalog shows a set of Prefaces on the back cover. The speakers are toe'd in almost 45 degrees! They were probably seven feet apart and right against the wall with a credenza between... What's up with that?

    Preface Placment Help

I had to move the speakers for some workers to come through. It was tough finding the sweet spot again so I came back to this thread. I found that less toe in sounded better and created a larger soundstage. But it varies among sources which I would expect anyway. Trial and error is what its all...

    Preface Placment Help

Can someone help me I never heard back on this. What does this mean? What am I doing physically with the speaker for this? Thank you! Ron

You guys must be so rich! I am still trying to figure out how to power my Prefaces affordably. The gear you mention is of dreams come true.

Who can recommend a nce Power amp for My Prefaces?

What about a Bryston 4B-SSt2 guys? I have been offered one new in my name born and hand made for me at a great price 3200 bucks. The interconnects alone are almost six hundred... Still a bit expensive but it would be the last word. Is it overkill here or pure joy? nervous now... Thank You!

    Preface Placment Help

Not much luck on an amp yet but some promising news. One local dealer wants me to try a Bryston SST2. Yikes. He has claimed that it will be the end of all discussion on a power amp. I cannot remember if he wanted me to try the 4B, 3B or 2B. Sure at that price it will be good but there has...

    Preface Placment Help

Gordon and Jim, I am sorry but I am behind here as well. I have been spending most of my time listening to the Prefaces and tuning the room. Got that coffee table out of there. Big difference. Still using the Crown amp. I just have no idea what to buy. I came close to the Aragon but missed out...

Who can recommend a nce Power amp for My Prefaces?

Almost had one right after it was recommended to me someone bought it out from under me. Nice deal on an 8080ST 675 bucks! The Parasound A21 is going for about 1400 in mint used condiditon and the P3 preamp for around 500. I did notice that but will keep my eyes open for the Aragon. ssshh

Who can recommend a nce Power amp for My Prefaces?

JJ, I did contact the seller on Audiogon about the 8008 ST but have not heard back probably sold it out from under me already. That was a sweet deal and thanks for pointing it out. I'm still hoping he will write back but I doubt it. Edit: It sold Now guys remember these are Preface speakers not...

Who can recommend a nce Power amp for My Prefaces?

They Preface are very revealing and I would say yes they have a bright high end but not overbearing. It's part of what I am going through right now trying to find an amp that will not have a shrill sound but is very clear and warm with alot of headroom. Any distortion or high end transients...

Who can recommend a nce Power amp for My Prefaces?

Ken if you want it please go ahead. I did contact the seller though. Question. Is the 8008 ST capable at 4ohms? I can't find much on it. Of course it is two channel right even though they say dual mono. Where were they made? Thanks fellas.

Who can recommend a nce Power amp for My Prefaces?

JJ, I did mention the A23 was affordable to me but I read some great reviews and then one where the owner took it back because it sounded clinical and without dynamic range etc... So thats why I mentioned that piece. I thought it was a strong contender. I see the Aragon is high on everyones...

Who can recommend a nce Power amp for My Prefaces?

Still working on this guys. Last night I realized that when summer is here and the windows are open I will not be able to listen at high levels as folks get to bed early during work weeks. Well whatever I know but still. I have noticed much better sound from my system at lower levels and this...
