    Better Internet Quality

Make sure to use premium power cords and interconnects on the modem, too.

any one going to Axpona ?

From the front center, I thought that they sounded pretty good. Perhaps a bit bass heavy and a bit loud, but you don't buy a speaker like that if it can't shake the room and play loudly, right? Hah.

Dang, I have nice bicycles, fast cars, and RC stuff, too.

    Summit 25&50 control

Settings are going to depend entirely on your room. Buy some measuring gear, measure, adjust, repeat.

Ethan Winer may be on the verge of proving expensive interconnects don't matter.

USB cables can sound quite different - if it is bad enough to be causing massive packet loss thus creating gaps in data and skipping. Again, broken.

No, I am saying that no component change short of something that is broken, massive EQ, or replacing speakers in a room could net a change so great that someone casually hearing it without knowing about the change could detect it. That is entirely illogical. The change that any of this stuff...

If your wife could hear a difference in your system from cabling changesthag was so drastic to be noticeable from casual listening while passing by, something in that system was or is broken.

The pages that were certainly created by their marketing group? Got it. Looks impressive.

Vanity and ego? Maybe subconciously, sure. Mostly, I like things, so I buy them. hah. And no, the fit/finish don't justify the price tag, but at least there is real engineering in them and they're difficult to design/build. Nice watch movements are impressive things... that is why they're...

But the difference is that I will readily admit that the watch works worse than a $100 department store brand. It is purely a luxury item that I enjoy for fit, finish, and exclusivity.

Because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if they make any difference or not. The fact that there are enough people that believe that they are effective at changing sound and having these debates will sell their products alone. And some of these people will even allow them to get away...

And this is why "hifi" companies stay in business. hah

I can respect spending some money on cabling because they look cool and are well built - like buying a nice watch. Buying them to "tweak the sound" seems pretty damn silly to me.

700W subwoofer keeps going into standby mode when in use

Make sure that your receiver doesn't have the sub level calibration set to like -12db. The low input signal could possibly be insufficient to keep the sub from going into a sleep mode. If your receiver does have it set very low, turn the volume knob down on your sub and either manually adjust...

    Subs/summit

It really depends on the room. The big advantage of an outboard sub is the ability to properly place and tune it. It is practically impossible to place the speakers in the right spot for balance, imaging, and bass.

    7ch to 2ch for movies

2 channel works ok if you only ever intend to have 1 person in the room watching a movie.

Wondering if Emotiva dropped a deuce...

I saw/heard some of their new stuff at AXPONA. I don't have any real world experience with it beyond that, but I liked the way that they looked and worked.
