Confessing to not cleaning my ELS panels

Pretty well, thank you. A slight veil lifted, yes. ;-)

Confessing to not cleaning my ELS panels

    OK. I haven't vacuumed my SL3s in 16 years. But I WILL! I WILL! (tomorrow). I promise.

    Hello all

Welcome Emery. Thanks for the offer. I'm also in the SF Bay Area and will keep you in mind if the need arises. Regards, Guido.

Wall behind speakers amount of reflexion

+1! I have 5 feet between my SL3s and the wall behind them, and RPG Skyline diffusers on that wall. Works much better than any alternatives I tried. Excellent soundstage and imaging.

Do you use room correction with your ESL's

I use a DSPeaker Antimode Dual Core with my SL3s+REL T1 sub. Simple, and it works exceedingly well.

    Spikes or stock rubber mounts

Personally, I've used spikes (with small saucers under) on a hardwood floor, but now use double thickness E.V.A. anti vibration pads under my SL3s. I find that over all clarity is improved with the E.V.A pads.

    New Room Build

In my experience, absorption is desirable at the first reflection point of both speakers. I use diffusion to good effect on the front wall 58" behind my SL3s.

    Speaker Isolation

Personally, I found EVA Anti Vinration Pads to offer superior decoupling and sonic benefits, especially when used double thickness.

    New speaker positioning????

What Gordon says!^ Additionally, try some sound diffusing surface behind the speakers. Good luck! Guido F.

Electromotion ESL close to wall, diffuser or absorption?

I *suspect*, based on my experience with SL3s, that diffusion may be best IF you could bring the speakers about 5 feet out (I use RPG Skyline panels). If not, then absorption may be te better bet. Regards, Guido F.

Class-D Amps with Martin Logan speakers?

I tried class D Red Dragon monoblocks with my SL3s. The sound was very clean but two dimensional and bass shy. An apparent impedance mismatch. (I run the SL3s from the 1 Ohm tap of my Music Reference RM 200 Mk II hybrid tube amp). Regards, Guido F.

    Sound Stage Issue

Try sitting so that the distance from chair to speaker is about 1.1 times the distance between the speakers (measured between the spots where the flashlight reflections are). Regards, Guido F.

Montis: I like them, but will they beat the Dynaudio C2 or even the C1?

Personally, I found that double thickness E.V.A. Anti vibration pads (< 50 cents each) worked better than spikes. Greater sound clarity, better imaging, etc. Worth trying. Guido F.

    Side walls

Yes. Absorption of first reflections of both speakers on side walls.

Martin Logan Montis positioning: What's best for these?

Place a quarter between wooden floor and spike. On the other hand, personally, I found that double thickness E.V.A. Anti vibration pads in lieu of spikes yield a clearer sound and more focused soundstage. Regards, Guido F.

Martin Logan Montis positioning: What's best for these?

If you can't hear a difference after making an adjustment, then the adjustment made no difference. At that point, I would suggest you relax and just enjoy the music (or film) That said, do keep the speakers about 60 inches from the front wall, slightly toed in so the flashlight beam is centered...

XLR Interconnect Recommendations sought based on pairing AMP with Speakers

Personally, I've found that E.V.A Anti Vibration pads work better than spikes under my SL3s. I use double thicknesses, and even so, at 49cents a piece they are ridiculously cheap. They produce a clearer, cleaner sound presentation. Your results may be different, but it may be worth experimenting...

Spires rear distance placement with room treatments...

I think every room is different. Different sizes, different finishes, different furnishings, all make for different interactions of room, speakers, and listeners. That said, I found that my SL3s sound best about 58" from the front wall. I also found that diffusion (2 RPG Skyline panels behind...

Bass Traps for SL3 - a good idea or squeeze the life out of my panels ?

I have SL3s in a room smaller than yours, but I found that the following works best for me. Skyline diffusers on the front wall (behind the SL3s), GIK absorbing panels at the first and second reflection points, GIK corner bass traps behind the listening seat, and a DSPeaker Dual Core 2.0...

SL3s and a very small room

I recently moved into a 1906 house that also has very small rooms. My SL3s work very well in a room similar to yours BUT this is due to three factors: first, I used the bass switch in the back to effect a 3dB cut, second I use a DSPeaker Dual Core to correct for room modes in the bass, third i...
