CLSIIZs need power!New 600 watt amp makes speakers really sound good!

I was running my CLSIIZs with a 300WPC SDS-470C from CLASSDAUDIO,and it sounded better than many other 300 watt per channel transistor amps.Decided to try a bridged 4 channel amp ,also by CLASSDAUDIO that delivers 600W into 8 and 1200W into 4 ohms.Sound is now much fuller, owing to extended...

Anyone using BMC amps with MLs?

In the meantime I came across a Stereophile review of the C1 integrated which specifically warns against using BMC C1 with speakers which have below 4 ohms impedence.

Anyone using BMC amps with MLs?

Anyone using BMC S1 with MLs?I may have missed an opportunity to get an S1 amp,but no one was able to reassure me about this before a contemplated purchase. The S1 puts outs out 200W at 8 and 350 W at 4.I was thinking of using it with CLSIIZ,which are a very difficult load, known amp...

I suggest a group order of panels

A good technician can work on the electronics if necessary Without panels- you can throw the frames away, and the resale value becomes a very round figure, which can not be divided by any other number. I had hoped to have my CLSs outlive me.

I suggest a group order of panels

That was my idea,a reduction for a quantity purchase I think that the powers that be on this forum will be doing a public service, including to themselves,if they look into the matter. Raanan

I suggest a group order of panels

To be carried out through the auspices of this forum directly to ML,before the supply dries up.I,personally, would be interested in a pair of panels for CLSs. Raanan

Support/Panels for older models may discontinue eventually.

This company is now on life support. Imagine QUAD coming out with such a notice.

    Some ClS Observations

I use 2 pairs in 2 different rooms While the frequency response in one of the rooms is rather jagged,I get response(albeit much weaker) from both pairs down to 27 cps.I get incredible sound in my small bedroom with a cheap Behringer EP-1500 which can put out 700 watts at 2 ohms.I have tried...

    ML Production moving

My country has a funny track record Jet fighters are designed and assembled,hi tech innovations and industry, but my country-Israel-is still unable to produce a decent automobile or motorcycle or scooter or bicycle, let alone stereo components or speakers. But,there are a few individuals who make...

McIntosh MC 2100 / CLS ii

Peter Gunn said on the Planar Asylum(audioasylum) MAC 2100 would die on Maggies. The same holds true for ML.

CLS I with CLS IIz panels any thoughts?

Brad pretty much said it all The panels are the same on all the II iterations. It would be a good idea to send a picture of the elctronics to JP at ML,he will be able to tell you is the Z mod has been installed. If it has-you are lucky,if not try to upgrade the IIs to IIZ status-based on my 2...

CLS I with CLS IIz panels any thoughts?

Correction The CLSII came out in 1989.There was a very slight mod to IIA status, which consisted in removing something and soldering one wire inside the electronics module. The change was not big. Then there was a mod to IIZ status which added transformers and resulted in a big change in sound as...

CLS I with CLS IIz panels any thoughts?

I have both CLSII with panels from 2000 and CLSIIZ with panels from 2009. I would strongly suggest getting the mod to IIZ status,as it poses an easier load to the amplifier.New panels are expensive at 1500$ but worth every penny. Enjoy!

auditioned the ML preface at Best Buy

Was the double negative intentional? Did you mean that the Vienna stuff does not get enough credit? I had Vienna Haydns-awesome speakers.

    Poor and unsophisticated

Used CLSIIZs + behringer EP1500=under 2000? I use this combo in my bedroom(well,CLSIIs in any case).Try to find a pair of used CLSs with new or nearly new panels. The panels should last around 10 years. None of the smaller MLs begin to approach the sonic attributes of the CLSs-and I have...

McIntosh MC 2100 / CLS ii

Amp for CLSs Glad to be of help.I would suggest the following: Buy a Behringer EP1500.It will drive the CLSs well.It is not a refined amp,but it will give you an idea.Costs around 400$ or less.Use it for a few months, and crystallize your feelings as to what it is exactly that you are missing...

    Help required

Speaker posts Have a look at the teaks concerning the CLS binding posts. I have dispensed with the binding posts on both my pairs of CLSs and the results are nothing short of miraculous. If that seems too daunting replace the binding posts with WBTs or Eichmanns.
