Can you diagnose a possible ground loop problem with one of those little 3 prong wall plug electrical testers that you plug into the wall and has the 3 lights across the top? I'm working on a sub woofer hum issue.
I have to go a long way to get to my rear speakers. Especially if I want to route it in the least conspicuous way. 50 feet to one and maybe 65 to the other. Does this distance impact the type of cable I should use? Thicker gauge perhaps? I do have some 16 gauge. Is that too small?
I have a ML Descent run by a Carver Surround Preamp. The sub is 25 feet from the preamp and is humming badly. I have the cheapest possible cable and know that has to be some of the issue. When I disconnect the cable, the sub quits humming. I can't shorten the cable because of how the room...
