I bi-amped my Ascent i's with a Sunfire amp running current source to the panel and voltage source to the woofer and was quite happy.

I have the HTPS-7000-SS and I was pretty happy with it until I realized that for what I paid for it I could have gotten something with Voltage Regulation and maybe UPS.

Wrong Wrong Wrong Wrong...... None of the current players internally decode all the formats (Denon 3800BD and Panny BD50 will) and only a few will bitstream them all (Samsung 1400 & Panny BD30). Most don't handle the new formats at all or will only convert TrueHD to LPCM but not bitstream it.

Has anyone used the Krell KAV-400xi integrated amp? I'm looking for a moderate priced (used) amp for a 2 channel system. I've used the 300i before and been fairly happy with it. Will the KAV-400xi drive the Ascent i as well as the Sunfire 400x7 I am using now?

Check for a used Sunfire Cinema Grand. They are the same amp as the 5400 and go for about $1500 on audiogon or you can get the Signature model which is 400w @ 8 ohm (800 @ 4) for about the same cost as a new 5400.

Anthem Statement A5 is around $2500 if I'm not mistaken. Doesn't quite have the brute force of the P5, but definitely has the finesse. A used Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature can be had for that and it's 400x5 into 8 ohm. I have the 7 channel version and have been very pleased.

You should be fine, just keep the volume in check until you get a bigger amp. Quite a few on this board run them off receivers. What are you looking at for an amp?
