    2019 rmaf

I went last year (2018) and had a good time in general. Show, contrary to the previous ones I attended on the East Coast, was not too crowded and could really get to talk to anyone you wanted to in every room. I thought the small rooms really did not help many systems. The room with the ML for...

Please help me pick surround speakers

The rears will be about 15 ft from the front, can put them at any height I want but it seems from reading around 2ft above ear level is where they should be.

Please help me pick surround speakers

Yes staying away from the ceiling but those Vanquish seem to be certainly impressive

Please help me pick surround speakers

I am kinda stuck picking rear surround speakers. The contenders are ML Motion 4i, ML Motion 15, or Definitive Technology ProMonitor 1000. You can see in my signature the rest of the equipment. It is a dedicated 16x18 room with 9 ft ceilings. In addition to regular movies we watch lots of opera...

Anyone in the Salt Lake City/Wasatch Front area?

Long time no see...haven't been here in several years as life as taken me away from one of my favorite hobbies. I have relocated to the Salt Lake city area and would love to get to listen to a pair of Summits before pulling the trigger. Unfortunately no dealers here, so I was wondering if any...

    Which Turntable?

When I was looking for a TT I looked at Thorens as well. What turned me off was: - the price (higher than VPI) - they are kinda hard to find and harder to find support for them - VPI can be upgraded I considered clearaudio, but thought it was on a lower level compared to the other ones in the...

    Which Turntable?

With that budget I'd get a VPI superscout master with the SDS unit. Do you already have a good phono preamp?

    Another recording.... RUINED!

Well, I think that the debate between analog and digital stirs some deep passions. While I don't like the statements you cited either, I understand that written communication sometimes does not convey the whole message a person is trying to express, thus misunderstandings do arise. I would not...

    Which Turntable?

I know I'm biased here since I have one, but at $1700 the VPI scout is a bargain for the quality. Class B stereophile recommended.

    Another recording.... RUINED!

Oops, I meant that in my ears' opinion it is the opposite of what Jonfo stated about dynamic range, bass extension, high-end clarity...., but it is true that everyone hears things a little differently.

    Another recording.... RUINED!

Very true! For me it's exactly the opposite, I consistently prefer vinyl.

    Another recording.... RUINED!

Fone' is a label. I believe they are based in Italy. They also make wonderful CD recordings. Highly recommended! Check 'em out: http://www.fone.it/en/index.asp

    Another recording.... RUINED!

I have the fone' 45 RPM all analog edition of the 4 seasons. It's a great recording. I just wished fone' records weren't so damn expensive and hard to come by.

    Stereophile Show In NYC

I really liked the Jadis and the speakers associated with it... and they were in a reasonable price range! Your buddy picked up a nice piece of electronics...good looking too if I may!

    Stereophile Show In NYC

I thought of that. It certainly is true. However, my room at home is not any better than what they had in those hotel rooms for the most part.

    Stereophile Show In NYC

Very true! Out of the whole show I'd have taken only the Wilsons over my Ascent i's driven by Rotel. Still, an interesting experience. I'd go again. I'd have liked to see the speakers audition workshop. Anybody got to see it?

    Stereophile Show In NYC

I was there today. didn't notice your post before. Here is a summary of my impressions: Most of the stuff was way overpriced. Most of the speakers were in the $12,000 range and up. Most of them IMO not worth anything close to that. No speakers in the middle range. The "eyeballs" speakers...
