Well I tried 2 pairs of SL-3 side by side, ie adjacent to each other, 4 speakers in total. It didn't work, as suggested, there was a interference pattern that made them less focused and defined, imaging and soundstaging reduced. Oh well, now at least I know.

The people who know about this- people who design and actually build stats will tell you the ML's mylar diaphgrams lose conductivity over time- the process of making the mylar conductive as used by ML simply wasn't as good as other stat manufacturers. Hopefully they are now using a process that...

Can you explain exactly what comb-filtering would do please? Would it be a freq or phase problem? Can it actually be measured or is just a supposed "nasty"

Anyone ever stacked identical pairs of ML's side by side? I have 2 pairs of SL-3 and going to try them stacked together- 2 speakers per side. Wonder what it does to imaging/sweet spot/beaming issues? All are active with subs so it will be a 10 channel set up.

Well I checked out Rob McKingley and he can supply materials to resurrect ML panels, funny thing is he only lives 300km from me. Very much looking forward to doing this- seems such a waste to ditch old tired panels- frankly I amazed that someone in the US isn't supplying materials.

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question as to why the panels die- giving them a wash only helps in some circumstances, not every panel is resurrected by washing (and yes I did wash my Requests) I suspect that as far as the Requests go they have a definitive lifetime and once it is up that is...
