Should I be wary of the DSP in newer ML speakers?

Hi Dave, my room is about 14' by 19' (7'8" ceilings), but is open at the back for another 14' and then round a corner. I've attached an image of my room's layout: the brown rectangle is my couch, the yellow ones are my record shelves, the black ones are my gear (left) and mono block (front)...

Should I be wary of the DSP in newer ML speakers?

Thanks for everyone's information and advice, it's much appreciated! I feel a bit happier bumping the 11A or 13A up my short list!

Should I be wary of the DSP in newer ML speakers?

Hi all, long time, no post! I'm starting to ponder replacing my beloved ML Spires, with either the ESL 11A or the ESL 13A (the ESL 15A is likely beyond my means for the time being). It's my understanding that the ESL 11A is essentially today's version of the Spire. I love the sound of my...

Thanks for your kind words, Brad! The Concept is a nice TT, I'm not the least bit surprised that you're enjoying it! :-)

Vinylphile issue 8 is ready for download!

Hi all, Just a quick note to say that I have FINALLY published issue 8 of Vinylphile! You can download your FREE copy from here: www.vinylphilemag.com/pdf/vinylphile-008.pdf (all back issues can also be downloaded from the mag's web site). Sorry it's been so long in the making, but thanks for...

    Lifetime of panels?

I can't help with the other questions, but some factors to consider are: * The cleanliness of your air. Particulate matter in the air (pollution, smoke, etc.) takes its toll on the panels. And of course, smoking in the same room will do the same damage to your speakers as to your lungs: coat...

The difference between CORPORATE and Private Companies!

Indeed. i would hate for ML to become another Infinity. Infinity went from right near the very top of the speaker food chain (remember the IRS V?) to making crappy home theatre and car speakers. What a come down... :-(

    where to put the turntable?

Thanks! Next time Jenny and I visit my uncle (he lives just outside White Rock), we'll try to visit you! No worries about a place to crash though, we stay at my uncle's place. :-)

    where to put the turntable?

Good point. Not to derail this thread, but I always wondered how people with turntables in different rooms managed to hear the beginning of a side (unless someone else does the cueing...).

Reference Video display - new top-dog

I'd really like to see a side-by-side review of the Panasonic VT50 series and their corresponding professional monitors, to see which has the best picture quality.

    Resonessence Labs Invicta DAC

OK, I've gotta stop sniffing glue! Annie has reviewed the Invicta, but the review hasn't been published yet! It will definitely be in the next issue (Issue 8) of the mag. I'm currently working on that issue, so it'll be out soon. Sorry about that!

    Resonessence Labs Invicta DAC

I'm in the fortunate position of living a hop and a skip away from Resonessence Labs, so had the opportunity to listen to the Invicta. I'm not a digital guy, so I didn't listen to it at great length, but Annie reviewed it in the mag an issue or two ago. She liked it. :-)

    where to put the turntable?

Trying vainly to get this thread back on topic(!), I second the recommendation of keeping your phono leads short. I wouldn't be to worries about the proximity of your turntable to your surrounds, because the latter presumably wouldn't be on during TT playback. PS You're welcome about the moving...

    Lifetime Service for MartinLogan Products

I hear what people are saying and am sympathetic to their plight. But consider this: when someone orders a replacement panel for a long-discontinued speaker, presumably regular production must be suspended to accommodate the manufacture of the replacement one? So we're not just talking about the...
