Just to shown nothing is clear regarding CLS versions ;) Here you got an picture which show the electronics of an 1987 CLS MKI, CLS original had double the amount of voltage on the panels :stop:

Yes! the LF filter section seen by count of caps present, shows its mostlikely a plain CLS II regarding the filtering section. But if theres traces cut on the filter circuitboard .., it can a newer version. Try investigate if there is traces which is disconnected.

Brad the last pic you have posted is neither an CLS IIa or CLS IIz the board has the 0.1mH coil and 5 capacitors ..., the schematics which has this count of coil/caps is the one of the CLS II version.

That is an CLS IIa version .., can be reconized by as i noticede in my former post, the 0.1mH coil is not present.

I right away do see the 0.1mH coil is missing on the board :confused:

20 years ago i did use a pair of Magneplanar MG-II (+ Gamma VLD12 leaf-tweeters and Audio Pro 2B-50 active sub) They where very CLS alike & a bunch less expencive :D

Be careful not to use the electronics wo the panel ..., what you hear is the transformer and which in this occation has no load, thus the entire ESL freq. are dissapated in the primary winding of the transformer.

When i bought my pair of CLS i had not chosen which SS high current amp i would buy to match there needs, i was forced to use my Dynaco Stereo 35..., to be hournest the ST35 did to my surprize actully perform a lot better better than i ever expected. (valve amp rated 2x17.5W/8Ohm)..., it made...
