Wrong about what? The US Retail price doesn't change just because they're on sale. If US Retail is $2800, and they are on sale for $1000, the US Retail (and Value) is still $2800 (IMHO). What say you?

If I purchase ML product "valued at $2,400 or more (US retail)" but I pay less than that for it because it's on sale or whatever...the 'value' is still $2400 or more. Let's pretend I paid $1000 for a new pair of ML speakers from an authorized participating dealer, speakers valued at $2800 US...
