I think going active would be a major upgrade. The benefits derived from one amp channel driving one “driver” directly are not insignificant.

Has anyone tried bi-amping their CLX by using an active crossover to filter the bass frequencies (low pass of 360hz) and bypassing the bass section of the crossover ? I anticipate this would deliver significant improvements in sound quality.

Interesting that you think the BF subs are that much better than the Descent i subs. I think though that if I was going to upgrade the subs I'd go for the Wilson Benesch Torus

Yes I agree. If the price was right I would still buy them, but the price he is asking is too much for a DIY repair. I've made him a more realistic offer, but I don't think he will accept.

Thanks for all your comments guys. If he had replaced them with ML panels I wouldn't hesitate, but it was a DIY replacement of the diaphragms. Because of that I've decided not to buy them and wait for a more suitable pair to purchase. I'm prepared to risk buying some with original panels as...
