What piece of music do you use to gauge your system by?

I have several Tonian Labs CDs that are very well recorded. I first heard them at a T.H.E Show when Tony Minasian was demonstrating his speakers. They really help me evaluate separation, imaging, and depth of field. My favorite Cd is one I bought at the last show, "Random Excitement". It's...

hi everyone. my photos are attached here...

Yes, I love my Edition X headphones. They're much more resolving than the Sennheiser 6XX (650). I'm using them balanced. The Hifiman Edition XS is around $499 new, and is highly rated on Headfi.

    Primaluna evo300 with esl

Are you able to check the tubes? The power tubes are auto biased, but there may be a bad one, including a preamp tube. Also, do you hear the distortion on Ultralinear as well as Triode? Maybe the lower powered Triode mode is distorting more? I have an Ekco integrated amp and when a preamp tube...

    Theater center ribbon tweeter mod

I'm a little confused. Is the AMT the same as a ribbon speaker, like Aurum Cantus? Also, did you change the crossover value at all?

    My apartment setup

I had the same issue with some of my GIK panels also. It appears the screws on the faceplates were over tightened. GIK sent me new faceplates right away at no charge. I built a couple of shadow boxes with the old faceplates and installed LED lights which are able to change colors and intensity...

Acoustical wall panels - any Pics or advise ?

I've had GIK panels for about 5 years and they make a positive addition in my system and room. The large black panel helps quite a bit to absorb excess bass. The long panels are the perfect height for the Summit Xs. The best part is that they are visually appealing.

    ? on summit bass

I use a custom-cut stepping stone under my Summit Xs. I don't have a means to measure the difference, but it seems to make the bass more uniform in my room.

hi everyone. my photos are attached here...

You might look at Hifiman headphones. They have lots of planar 'phones at different price levels. I have the Edition X (HEX) and love them, but started with the 400 series which are also wonderful headphones. I believe they also have a wireless model.

    Headphones ..........

An alternative to the Stax is Kingsound. I have the H-03 headphones with their M-20 tube amp. It's very comfortable and comes closer in sound to my Summit Xs than my other headphones. Even with upgraded Genelex tubes and Deconi Hybrid earpads, it is much less than a Stax combo. For closed...

Summit X - Solid State Amp Opinions

I pushed the volume as high as I could take it a couple of times to see if the meters would indicate the amp was leaving Class A. The needle barely moved, and all the detail was still there. However it was much louder at that point than I'm comfortable with. I listen mostly to jazz and female...

Summit X - Solid State Amp Opinions

I tried a class D amp with my Summit Xs and it didn't appeal to me. A tubed Rogue Audio Atlas Magnum II sounded much better for several years. Recently I inserted a Pass Labs XA30 with 30 WPC in Class A, and have to agree with Gordon that Pass is a good match. I was concerned that 30 watts may...
