I don't think that it is necessary to drill the bottom of the speakers. According to the site you use the existing threaded inserts.

Merry Christmas all. I have decided to order Outrigger stands for my Odysseys. Since ther are various sizes, what are you using and why? I assume that using the highest spikes is recommended for more adjustment range?
