Low level listening?
Bonjour Monsieur Ex Lion Tamer,
I had a pair of Sonic Frontier SFM 75 Mk IIs driving my Aeons. I was very, very happy with them when I listened at low volume levels late at night, they were 75 Watts per channel, I used the 4 ohm setting. They had a very seductive midrange...
Depth
Feltran,
IMHO I would say if you go with a Depth, you will still be happy with it even after you upgrade your speakers.
I have a Depth and I find it sounds fast and tight and integrates well with my Aeons, even on two channel music listening.
Cheers,
Chris
Hello Zee,
Another way to stay within budget is to use Front, Centre and Sub only.
The rears only add about 5-10% to the sound field. I did that for a while until I could afford a pair of Scripts, can't really say that adding rears had the same positive impact as adding the Sub and Centre.
BTW...
Don't go non -ML!
Hi Zee,
I have the same speakers: Aeon and Depth. I've heard this system with a B&W Centre and Rears, it did not sound too integrated, the Centre stuck out like a sore thumb!
The Frescos don't sound bad when used as rear speakers but I would stick with ML electrostatic centre...
International power supply.
Yes, you can use that power supply for any AC voltage from 100 Vac to 240 Vac. The power supply shown in the photo also accepts any line frequency from 50 Hz to 60 Hz. In other words, you can use that power supply shown in the phpto any where in the world, you...
Scripts are still listed under Applications on M-L Canada
Could be because I go to the home page, click on North America, then Canada (I live in Canada).
Go to this link
http://www.ca.martinlogan.com/frontpage.htm
click on "Applications", which will bring up several menus and sub menus, go...
A good loudspeaker is a good loudspeaker. If it sounds great for movies, it should should great for music and vice versa.
In my (humble!) opinion, a wall mounted Script will work better than the other wall mount M-Ls, because the Scripts are electrostatic mid/high, all the others are not.
I...
Scrit for surrounds
Ron,
Stick with something electrostatic/hybrid without a tweeter. I would recommend using the Script or Script i. You can wall mount or stand mount the Scripts. The tweeter in the Motif will probably be too obtrusive for use as a surround. I compared the Script i to the...
Scripts on stands work for me!
I have a pair of Script i's that I could not wall mount as well. I purchased a pair of floor stands from Target Hi Fi in London, Ontario. Model is PB4-16SF, don't know the make, they are 16" high, with a 10" X 10" base and an 8" X 8" top. I paid $250.00 for the...
Final
Hello IWalker,
you're going to burn in hell!
Just kidding, enjoy your new speakers, they are still electrostatic
Happy Listening,
Chris.
SS vs. tubes continued.......
Hi Jon Fo,
I wasn't trying to take a side on the tubes vs. solid state argument. I was just trying to explain why a low output current tube amp may sound as satisfying as a high output current solid state amp. I currently own a pair of Sonic Frontiers SFM-75 Mk II...
Ooops!
Sorry Renpar,
I read your post too quickly. You are correct! The Claritys cannot be bi-amped. So one of the Arcam's advantages is irrelevant in your case. The Rotel stuff has a great reputation, your system should be very cool (that's a compliment)! I also failed to notice you had...
Tube vs. Solid State
This is a reply to the two previous posts,
This reply isn't meant to insult or disrespect anyone's opinion. I just thought I might throw in my $0.02 worth. I am an Electrical Engineer by trade. In an attempt to simplify a very complicated issue: a 50 Watt solid state power...
Rotel has good tech support
Hello Renpar,
A few months ago I was considering buying a Rotel RSX-1067 rcvr. I sent an e-mail to Rotel tech support asking if the rcvr would be able to drive a 5 channel set up consisting of a pair of Aeons, a Cinema and and a pair of Scripts.
They responded...
Apparently Primare designers previously worked under Nelson Pass
Hello folks!
Check out the Primare Audio web site: Primare engineer Mike Bladelius formerly worked for Pass Labs and Nelson Pass's old company Thershold. A few days ago I tried out a Primare I30 Integrated Amp with my Aeons...
