With an open space that large, the more powerful and dynamic the amps, the better. Especially moving from the much higher sensitivity horns.

I don't find the design objectionable, and aesthetics weigh significantly in my choices. Looks elegantly functional to me. Sound wise, the early initial reports from CES have been across-the-board positive from what I've read.

I use Stillpoints SSs under my Spires on a carpeted basement floor. The results are outstanding! Very highly recommended.

To answer the question posed in the thread title, unfortunately yes.

UHA is just up the road from me here in Maryland. Good guy, passionate about tape decks, and well regarded in the industry. Rather than being anti-vinyl or digital, I think it is more accurate to say he much prefers reel-to-reel (who doesn't?).
