I was invited by Stereoman, system:114 to audition his fine system. We both live in Toronto, less then .5 hr I was at his front door. He was very gracious &
welcoming.

We spent 2 hrs of none stop listening, the sound was warm & inviting, I was
surprised that Summit can put out so much low level bass with such small
enclosure. I think my Request is a bit lacking in the tight bass department.

Time well spent with a great system & company. I hope I can return the favour
soon.

Yup, if you listen to the Summit for extended periods of time, the bass impact and depth will floor you as compared to the reQuests.

I still have my reQuest's boxed up in my basement. I really enjoyed them and fretted about spending extra money. I am sure glad I did. I now pull out the old Carlos Organ direct to disc albums and have a ball. The bass weight and power is great to have back.

No major issues with my reQuests, but the Summits were a big step up for me.

From Toronto, I sure hoped you listened to some Tragically Hip!!!!

Have Fun.

You're absolutely right about the bass impact. But then again I find the
midrange on the Request is among the best there is, with limited time
spent with Summit, I find the mid range is still better on my Request.
I spent a lot of time tweaking them, changed some capacitors &
resistors, pulled them 5' away from the wall & 3' from the side wall.

As well, I have a pair of 60 inch dipole ribbon tweeters paired with my Request, they rated at 40Khz @4db. ( will post my system shortly ) The resulting high is quite amazing. I owned both Sequel & Request, both of
them I find have a bit of hi-frequency rolled off. I am sure lots of people
welcome it as being smooth sounding but I like a bit of brightness.
As for the bass I might try to put a piece of very heavy metal on top of the bass cabinet and hope it can make the bass tighter. That's part of the fun of being a music lover.
