so glad to be here !!
i just bought a pair of ML speakers.
i haven't even hooked them up yet
cuz i am building my system still.
i am truly excited though.....
my hubby has always had those LOUD
booming systems like the 70's . however,
i want clarity and a true theater experience.
i have a denon receiver and now i just need to buy the center and sub.
MY HUBBY IS MAD AT ME NOW....
he said, "i thought we were going to go listen to some systems first...."
his son, surprisingly, wanted us to buy the onkyo. i just couldn't bring
myself to do it. i have heard nothing but praise for ML so i just jumped
in and bought them.
MY QUESTION, what do i tell hubby to get him to ease up??
i REALLY look forward to this forum !!
thanks yall !!!!

First off...

:welcome:

To answer your question, most obvious way to get your hubby to be placated will be to plug those bad boys in and plop him down in front of them. Trust me, the proof will be in the pudding!

Welcome to the club,

I would not dream of telling you how to deal with your husband. I might hook them up and let the magical sound do the talking. What model did you get?

welcome its nice to see another female on this forum as its a bit of a sausage fest around here:(

that's funny !!

hey, THANKS yall !!

i know, itz like being a minority on the charger forum too !! LOL !!

i found this when i was doing research.
i am SO excited to be here !!

i truly appreciate music.
i play piano. i love the acoustics in a symphony hall.
i love clarity.

i have the denon receiver and the 2 speakers.
i can't afford the sub and center until next month.
can i plug those 3 components in and listen to the stereo
to prove to hubby what an investment i made??

but, i bought the ML PREFACE .
i'm tired of listening to crap and i am so excited to have a great
theater experience again !!!!!!!
thanks for the welcome !!!
look forward to a long relationship !!!!!:music:

set them up. take some time to position them so they disappear... (flashlight trick is a wonderful place to start.. search the site for more info). Then sit hubby in the sweet spot and watch his jaw drop. He'll be hooked!

Welcome to the fray!

She bought Preface - you can't do the flashlight (torch) trick with those. But yes, take the time to set them up properly - you'll be substantially and commensurately rewarded.

as I have said before those are probably my fav speaker for under 5k that is none ESL. they really need strong break in though so do not freak out when you first play them

Welcome! I can guess what the PMS part of your Username stands for, but what about the ITZ? :D

If your husband is grumpy because you bought MartinLogans, get a new one!

Most guys would love to have a wife that WANTED to get good hifi.

The world is your oyster...

:)

Welcome to the club! I'm sure that one you hook up those Martin Logans (and ESPECIALLY after you get the subwoofer) it will make your hubby VERY happy. If not, then get a new one...

The guys are right--most men on this list PRAY that the women in their lives would bring home good stereo gear--you are a true gem, and your hubby should feel blessed that he has such a cool wife...

BTW, do you have any unmarried sisters?...

Again, Welcome to the club!

itz been 22 years now.....
i've put up with his poor choices; he can put up with mine :)
i am so excited to learn from yall !!
i told him last week, if he ****es me off, i'll just go spend money.
and then he'll be nice for awhile. works everytime !!
he does provide very well for his family though.....
i just pay the bills - WOO HOO

i have one sister that i claim. she just turned 51. divorced last year.
she's the pretty one. i'm the fun one. i'm trying to move her out here
from CA. i have her son, so what excuse can she give me now !!!
i've raised 3 other children i didn't give birth to and they all love to
party at our house.
this new system is going to be fitted in our basement. it is 850 sq ft.
i bought a samsung 50" and they'll hang it on the wall and set everything
up when i get all the components.
we have a small electrical business so i already have the installers at my
beck and call !!!
gawd, i am so excited to get this hooked up !!

Wow! if your this stoked now, wait till you get everything hooked up!. Better get the fire extinguisher for the keyboard.

Since your waiting on bits and pieces AND you have an electical service company, research adding a couple 20 Amp circuits in the basement to feed only your new system. You mind as well start from the front, cause you'll come back to it later.

itzpms, That's Classic!!!

Watch out for the monster! :D

I started with the ML Montage speakers and Pioneer Elite...

Welcome to the best place to learn about audio and how to spend your money!

Welcome itzpms,
What is your blood type? Maybe you could sell some 1oz. transfusions for our spouses. If it works we get spouses that love audio and you can buy more equipment.
That's about the only way my wife will ever have audiophile needs in her blood.
Oh wait, that would mean sharing the sweet spot. Hmmm, I might have to rethink this one.
Anybody ever try the sweet spot with someone on their lap.
