Inside the Electronics box of the CLS II is a switch labeled S2.

It says "High Voltage Output Reduction Switch"

There are 2 settings, 1 and 0

0: Standard Setting
1: Yields 10% Reduction

I have no manuel so I have no idea what this switch does
Below is a pic.

Hola...that switch will take off some of the high voltage present at the bias section, and was for high humid weather, that the ClSs might arc in that kind of weather. You can ask Jim Power regarding it...happy listening,
Roberto.

would it not have a better chance to arc in drier climate than in humid ???

As I recall, the CLS here in Costa Rica did arc, and the sound was like a .22 shot. At dark room, even you could see the spark. Then asked Jim power what was the solution to his problem, and he told me to use that switch, problem solved. Happy listening,
Roberto.

do they all have a switch like this

do the spires have this switch ????

No...and the new stat panels do not arc. This was long time ago, about 15 years ago. Here in Costa Rica, we have 8 months with rain, and the months of October, August and June are the worst regarding humidity. Our relative humidity on these days here is 100%!, bad for electrostatic sound...happy listening!,
Roberto.
