Wow, holly mother of invention...looks real nice! Wonder how it sounds.

From my past experiences with Denon, it should sound pretty amazing. And with everything that this will offer It's going to be the one to beat. I can't wait till it comes out!

Can you imagine how much the processor and matching amp would cost if a smaller specialist manufacturer tried to market it? :eek1:

No one would be able to afford it! Might have better audio quality though as a smaller maker would have put more emphasis on that, though who knows this thing might just blow us all away by how it sounds once it is out! I would love to test one to see!!!

Have any of you guys seen the new BD Player they are putting out? Features internal decoding of DDHD and DTSHD and HDMI 1.3a output as well as a Silicon Optix 10-bit Realta HQV video processor for DVD upscaling.

It also features BD Profile version 1.1 which apparently allows for picture in picture featuring seperate video and audio tracks from the same player.

Retail price - $1,999

bober,

That's one sweet Blu-ray player! While $2k for a Blu-ray player is a bit on the steep side for most, I'll bet you this one, like their AV processor, is going to be the most technologically advanced. If I knew for a fact that Blu-ray was going to be the de-facto standard in high def players, I would definitely get me one. But it's still too early to know how things are going to play out.

But for anyone wanting the ultimate Blu-ray machine, this is without a doubt the one to get.

It's one sweet look Blu-Ray player.

Denons MSRP's are always high. They say $1,999 but it will street closer to $1,300-1,500.

You're right, if a company like Meridian, Lexicon, Theta, etc, introduced an AV controller with everything that this Denon has, it would be outrageously priced (think $22k-$25k). I guess looking at it that way, in the high end realm anyway, $7k is a good deal. In the real world of mass produced receivers and such, $7k is still a chunk of change.

I also am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Denon to see if its sound quality is up there with the likes of Krell, Classe', Theta, etc. If this thing does match the sound quality of the ones mentioned, with every thing it offers, I'll definitely get one. We'll see.

The AVP-A1HD will be available this fall!

Rumors on pricing and availability have been circulating the net for a while now, but no official word had been announced until now. At the CEDIA show in Denver, Denon officially announced that the AVP-A1HD AV controller and POA-A1HD 10 channel amplifier will be available this fall (Nov/Dec). The AVP-A1HD will retail for $7,000, and the POA-A1HD 10 channel amplifier will retail for $7,000.

From CEDIA 2007:

Denon AVP-A1HDCI AV Processor

Scheduled for delivery this Fall, the AVP-A1HDC1 is engineered from the ground up to provide the ultimate in audio and video performance, as well as to meet the demands of Denon’s valued custom integration customers, including the growing need for advanced multi-zone networking capabilities. The introduction of this processor and matching 10 CH amplifier (Denon POA-A1HDCI) marks the debut of a new family of high-performance custom-focused components.

Jeff Talmadge, Director, Product Development and Systems Integration noted, “We’ve had many requests from our enthusiast customers to get back into this market, which we have not focused on in over 10 years. After talking to many of our customers, we determined that these two products we’re introducing are what people want most from Denon. We’ve combined the advanced functionality of our ultimate-quality components with advanced multi-zone and networking capabilities. Our goal is to bring dedicated home entertainment aficionados the upscale solutions they need to enjoy ultimate-quality audio and video performance, and to give custom integrators new ways to meet the demands of their discriminating clientele.”

AVP-A1HDCI – Powerful Audio/Video Controller Processor with Silicon Optix Realta Chipset
Following its success in Denon’s renowned DVD players, Denon has added the advanced Silicon Optix Realta chipset to its new AVP-A1HDCI, enabling enhanced video performance with upconversion and scaling to 1080p from all analog and digital sources, including the ability to use Realta Noise Reduction circuitry for 1080p input signals. This powerful chipset is just one of many advanced features that make the reference-quality AVP-A1HDCI one of the world’s most advanced audio/video controllers.

The AVP-A1HDCI features six HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs and also includes built-in Ethernet and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity. Both network protocols allow custom integrators the ability to diagnose, correct, update and remotely perform maintenance on the units without the need to travel to their customer’s home. The SimplayHD certified AVP-A1HDCI also features DLNA and Windows Vista certification, and allows users to stream multimedia content from network attached devices including computers and the popular iTunes software as well as media servers and network attached storage devices.

Other CI dedicated-features include RS-232 and assignable high current DC trigger outputs, Audyssey MultEQ XT Auto Setup and Calibration, and the ability to use the Audyssey Pro installer package, which measures ideal sonic performance in up to 32 different positions, allowing installers to define the ultimate sound quality for virtually any size or shape room.

The AVP-A1HDCI is a multiple source/multiple zone controller processor, capable of up to four zones and providing digital output to Zone 2. Users enjoy discrete command, source select, volume, power and more in each zone. In addition, three discrete and independent tuners; AM/FM, XM satellite radio ready (subscription required) and HD Radio provide for multi-zone distribution with high quality playback and support of multicasting from HD Radio.

The AVP-A1HDCI features the company’s newly designed Graphical User Interface (GUI) that makes accessing all the advanced features simpler and more intuitive than ever.

Enhanced Music Performance from Multiple Sources
For those users who enjoy streaming music via Ethernet / Wi-Fi or listening to their MP3 player via an iPod dock or USB flash drive/HDD, the AVP-A1HDCI features a compressed audio restorer that enhances music files that may be lacking in quality.

MSRP: $7,000, shipping Fall 2007

Cool

Now let's see what the review are like and whether it will street for $5K.

One question I still have: Does it support CEC protocols over HDMI?

That would be ideal for integration.

Being that Denon's Blu-ray player will have CEC via HDMI, I don't see why their AV controller wouldn't. But I guess we'll have to wait till it comes out to know for sure.

I really hope this AV controller sounds as good as I think it will. And if it can be purchased for around $5k, then this will definitely be replacing my Sunfire TGIII.

Just a bump to see if anyone has any updated news. The AVP-A1HD AV controller will be a worthy successor to replace my (aging and getting *way* long in the tooth) B&K!

Well according to the Denon Japan website the AVP-A1HD won't be released until early 2008. If this holds true then it stands to reason that it may not make it here this year either. I want one of these really bad, but so far no word from Denon USA as to an exact time frame. So all we can do is wait and see what happens.

And if greg_slo can get some info on the 1st of December from the Denon rep that would be awesome.

I know this is going to be one heck of a nice pre/pro.

I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed for a quick arrival! :D Thanks for the update, guys!

Best regards,

Marc

Denon Uber Alles!

Wow what a beast! I think it needs me! But how happy will that amp be driving ML speakers?

In my 5.1 system I could conceivably bi amp EVERYTHING with that mother! Bring the noise!

The pre-amp is 7 grand though... OUCH! I can only imagine how much the amp itself will cost...
