can Someone please explain how the summit loudspeaker works? If u use a tube amp will the bass sound like tube bass? If u use a solid state amp will the bass sound like solid State bass? Since the summit has its own built in solid states amps will the bass allways be the same no matter which type of amp u use? Thanks

the manner to which the bass portion your speaker will sound will ultimately be derived from the signal sent to it. A well designed tube amp (low distortion / wide band width) will sound superb for the tightness / control of the bass driver will be derived from the inboard amp. On the other hand a tube 'may' have more of an effect on the upper octaves (high freq 'roll off' ) from the panel given the inverse imp drop of electrostatics.

I remember the earlier Summits having the option of the bass amps being driven from the preamp or from the host amp (one that's doing the esl).
We had a big tube doing the esl and found the bass far tighter when the Summits bass amp was getting the signal from the preamp rather than the big tube. I believe the later Summits don't have a line (rca) in for the bass amp so you have no choice but to drive it from the host amp, and yes it will give it's signature to the bass.

Cheers George
