Looks good Jim, now get those puppies out into the room so they can breath !

While I can't say how solidly those speakers are placed, I can say they look rather precarious. You'll most certainly get performance gains if the speakers are solidly coupled to the floor.

Nice room though!

I'm not saying he would want to try this, but I found that when I moved my large screen TV up to the same plane as the panels, my sound stage cleaned up quite a bit. My panels are only about 3' off the front wall, but I started to experiment pulling the TV forward a few inches at a time. When I pulled the TV past the panels very bad things started to happen to the sound, but parallel to the panels the sound stage was noticeably sharper in terms of instrument and singer placement then when my TV was closer to the front wall. I have no idea what it did to the frequency response but it seemed to sound great until I passed the plane of the panels. I don't know exactly how to explain what I heard then.

Fortunately I can slide my TV forward easily since it rests on a piece of furniture with large felt pads under it.

I tried sound deadening behind my speakers and never heard a difference and I also couldn't measure a difference in frequency response. However I am not a room treatment specialist and I while I understood that I was using the correct sound deadening materials and putting them in places that should have made a difference. I never heard it.

That is a beautiful looking system and much higher end than mine, in a completely different room, so I don't pretend to know what would work best there.

Welcome Jim! Nice looking system.

I'm in Ottawa (Kanata) as well. Good to see another Ottawan here.

Thanks!

Folks, thanks for the warm welcome. I'm open to all suggestions regarding the room. Long story, but the bottom line is that the designer trumped the sound engineer (sigh). Mistake #1. Not a huge space, but I'll pull the speakers forward to give them more room to breathe.

Also, I'm attaching a pic of the back of the room. As you can see, kinda shallow...

Thanks amey01. I'll see what I can do to better connect the speakers to the floor. I made a mistake in the room design which will be a bit hard to correct.

Are you satisfied with esl13?
I just ordered myself a pair and I have to wait another 2 or 3 weeks before i get them.

Nice speakers..Get them off those platforms as your getting floor bounce and bass blurr ,it it will be a bear to get the image correct , There is so much wrong with that speaker set up that its a suck out zone.. Get them out to the room.. Don't do dis justice to a 15k speaker by setting it up for failure and hoping to get 15k worth of sound

By the way its just my opinion and don't take it as a insult.. You have world class speakers give them a world class chance

Very happy with the speakers. They do require lots of space, though. How do you like yours?

I am really satisfied. I have à pbk kit on order so I look forward to see what Anthem room correction Will do for my room

How do you like your EM-FX2 as surrounds? Just using 2 placed in the back or 4 with sides and rears? Do they blend well with the front three speakers?

I currently have Theos as my FL and FR with stage X center and was wondering how the FX2 would blend with them for side and rear surrounds?
