Does this look right to you guys? Seems the panels are about 3/4" below the top edge of the frame, and the grill on the bottom is shifted an equal amount downward.

It might explain why I'm getting that 'buzz' at certain frequencies if something is vibrating that ought not to be because the panels are not aligned properly.

do a search for "panel slippage". This is a common thing for the older speakers and there is a solution to fix it.
 
easy fix , Tap off wood frames and use 1/8 foam on edge and center and tap back on. its what the newer ones use. There are l clips but the foam will help more than hurt..
 
So just to be clear, the panels should be flush with the top, yes?

My SL3 panels are positioned the same as yours, and they do have the retaining brackets under them. So yours seem okay.
