Black appears smaller. Black makes our ML ESLs appear more transparent. Black minimizes reflections. Manufacturers are right that I want black.

Because the manufacturers "think" that's what people want.

I wonder why? A search for "WAF" just on this site had 310 hits and this is Martin-Logan, an aesthetically pleasing proposition, that many spouses would / should not object to too much. Why would manufacturers not design units that enhance the living area rather than look like a spare part for RoboCop?

My answer is, anytime anyone makes something attractive (think B&O) the audio press immediately relegates it to the "life style purchase" department. It is ironic that today's highly regarded SoundSmith cartridges are 1970s B&O MMCs with some gold or other finish to make them look more "hifi." Truth is they were superb cartridges then and they are now too. But the Beogram 4002 it came with was just too pretty to be hifi.

Am I right?
