Classic Donald the last few days. Wednesday he agrees to debate Sanders. Thursday he says he'll only do it if $10 million can be raised for charity. Then a tech company agrees to front the ten million. So today Trump backs out, saying it would be "inappropriate" to debate Bernie. I suppose tomorrow he'll be saying it was actually Bernie that backed out.

Apparently DT said, while campaigning in California, that there is no drought in the state based on his conversations with various farmers.

Love to see the data to support that statement.

Since the Don has no experience in any elected position, those who would want an understanding of how he might conduct himself once in office can only look to his business dealings to get an idea of who he really is. According to the testimony of his own employees in the lawsuit against Trump University, he is a liar, a cheat, a fraud, and a swindler.
From the NY Times:
"In blunt testimony revealed on Tuesday, former managers of Trump University, the for-profit school started by Donald J. Trump, portray it as an unscrupulous business that relied on high-pressure sales tactics, employed unqualified instructors, made deceptive claims and exploited vulnerable students..."

Can we all please stop this?

I don't want this thread closed again.

Thanks for the cooperation.

BREAKING NEWS

The Professional Golf Association (PGA) World Golf Championship, which has been hosted at the Trump National Doral Resort in Florida since 2007, has been moved to Mexico City. Decision was apparently made due to PGA's inability to procure long term "sponsorships" (Cadillac and others) for next year's event as well as future years.

Rory McIlroy, current No. 3 rated player in the world, said he'd have to jump over the "wall" to attend.

In response to the PGA's decision, Trump advised PGA officials to take out "kidnapping" insurance.

Guess it depends on the season??? Lol

How about actual data?

US Drought Monitor California

As for farmers, they use, depending on how it's measured, 40-80% of CA water, while generating ~1.5% of the state's GDP. Initially, they were exempt from water cuts, but public outcry (apparently) caused Gov. Moonbeam to implement some cuts last June. And then there's The Great Almond Debate......

Thanks Ken.

Assume the numbers in the various columns are "percent of normal" based on historical data. Correct?

"Ted Cruz is no longer a liar. We don’t say ‘Lyin’ Ted’ anymore! We love Ted.” — Donald Trump on his vanquished rival at a rally in San Jose Thursday evening."

So Ted Cruz suddenly stopped being a liar simply because he dropped out of the race and now supports Trump? Proof positive that even Trump doesn't believe any of the B.S. that he spouts. He just attacks with whatever vitriolic comments come to his lizard brain and whatever childish perjorative nicknames he can think of. This man truly has the mentality of a fifth grade bully. Whether you care for Hillary or not, I'm convinced that a vote for Trump is a vote for the absolute destruction of this Country.

Destruction of the country? We have just gone through 8 years of what was supposed to be the most transparent administration in history. Instead, we got Fast and Furious with executive privilege being used for a probable cover up of Eric Holder. We had Lois Lerner and 2 years of her emails being lost because of a computer crash, but not only that, but like 6 of her close colleagues, that she would have also emailed, just happened to experience computer crashes of their own! We had reporters being fed false information in an effort to sell the Iran deal to the American public. Just recently we have a State Department video that was deliberately cut to save the administration some embarrassment. Of course, we have the mess with Hillary and her private server and deleted emails. These are what I could think of very quickly at the top of my head. But I am supposed to vote for what probably would be more of this, and perhaps more, by supporting Hillary??

Kevin, how has any of that affected you personally? Obama took over when our economy was in free fall from the worst recession since the Great Depression. We were hemorrhaging jobs and the financial markets were crumbling. This affected everyone! Despite unprecedented obstruction by Congress, we have slowly recovered from the Bush recession. And that recession is just a blip on the radar compared to what could happen if Trump carried through with some of his proposals. You don't think us refusing to pay our debts, engaging in trade wars with China and Mexico, deporting all U.S. Muslims, and other idiotic propositions put forth by Trump would result in the destruction of this country? I certainly do. But Hillary using a private email server is so much worse for our Country than Trump's ideas of how it should be run? You think the best candidate to vote for is the one who was endorsed by the KKK, Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un? Yes, that makes perfect sense.

Edit: I can't think of a presidential administration in my lifetime that hasn't had numerous scandals. To me, the important metric is whether the Country as a whole was better off at the end of their term vs. the beginning. At the end of Bill Clinton's term, the Country was much better off, despite his sex scandals. At the end of Bush's term, the Country was much, much worse off than at the beginning. The Country is certainly better off today than when Obama assumed office (no thanks to republicans in Congress). And I have no doubt we will be better off at the end of Hillary's presidency than we would be at the end of Trump's. I'll take a few minor political scandals over complete destruction of the economy or trillions wasted on unnecessary wars any day. Sometimes a little perspective is a good thing.

What press??

The one Trump has taken constant advantage of during the primaries and is now constantly complaining about as we pivot to the general. God forbid they should actually report on his previous indiscretions and explore whether he is actually qualified for the job he seeks.

To underscore my comment regarding Trump destroying the Country, here are the first two paragraphs from an article from that Bastion of Liberalism, The N.Y. Times, quoting conservative and Libertarian sources:

"Donald J. Trump’s blustery attacks on the press, complaints about the judicial system and bold claims of presidential power collectively sketch out a constitutional worldview that shows contempt for the First Amendment, the separation of powers and the rule of law, legal experts across the political spectrum say.

Even as much of the Republican political establishment lines up behind its presumptive nominee, many conservative and libertarian legal scholars warn that electing Mr. Trump is a recipe for a constitutional crisis."

But...but...Hillary's email server! As I said before -- perspective.

Who knows how it has affected anyone? That is part of the problem, there is so much secrecy, lack of cooperation and scandal, it's hard to say. Want to know why perhaps Hillary set up her email system the way she did, why not go to the computer tech who set it up? But wait, the State Department says his emails have vanished! But how could this perhaps affect me? You had the Secretary of State approving business deals for businesses and countries, that at the same time were contributing millions to her "foundation" and paying Bill quite handsomely for speeches. One of those deals gave Russia 20% of our uranium production. Could this affect us at some point? Are details of those deals located in some of the "wiped clean" emails? Does she now feel she owes any of those countries favors as a result, should she become president? You can believe those countries feel she does. As someone who voted for Romney, could the IRS scandal have hurt republican chances in the election, given that they were preventing conservative groups from getting approval prior to the election? What might those IRS emails that are missing show? Did those emails have something in them that could have changed the election? What might missing emails concerning Benghazi, right before an election, might have shown? I don't know, because they are gone. It does concern me when our government is purposely hiding and destroying information that belongs to the public. It's corruption, plain and simple.

Perspective? How is this for perspective? I am not sure how one brags about the slowest economic recovery of the post war era. One in which family incomes are down, but food stamps and people on social security disability have both increased greatly. Have that many more people honestly slipped on ice and hurt themselves during Obama's tenure? We still can't really raise the interest rates, and my bet is they won't be raised until after the elections, you can't chance a slow down of a slow economic recovery prior to an election. The economy has been great for the rich, heavily invested in the stock market, but not so much so for many of us. And have you seen the predictions for health insurance premiums for the next coming year?

The State Department just released a report stating that Iran is once again the leading sponsor of terrorism. We just made a deal with them giving them access to billions! And they will still be chanting death to Americans. Under Hillary as Secretary of State, and many state that she is the one who pushed for it, we took out the leader of Libya without any plan on what to do afterwards. You want to attack Bush for Iraq? Fine, so do I. But what does it say when you do essentially the same thing in Libya, despite having already seen the result with Iraq? From what I saw during Hillary's tenure at the State Department, it doesn't give me a warm feeling about her foreign policy experience, which is probably the reason why she isn't really running on it.

Bill Clinton did see good economic times, but he was also named by Time as one of the causes for the financial crisis under Bush. Despite what democrats say, the financial crisis had many hands in it, including the American public that purchased homes on very little credit. We did have a good economy at that time, but Bill worked with the republicans who controlled congress through much of it. He signed a bill and said "today, we are ending welfare as we know it". Hillary isn't running on ending or reducing welfare, she is running on expanding it. Also, we had the .com economy as well that propped things up before it collapsed.

I find Trump despicable. He's the last candidate in a crowded republican field that I wanted to be the nominee. He may call for building a wall and kicking illegals out, but I don't think he will or could. But could he end sanctuary cities and perhaps give the border more needed security? We have even arrested people with terrorist ties crossing the border, although our so called "press" gave it scant coverage. He may not temporarily be able to prevent Muslims from coming into the country, but could he tighten up our vetting on those coming from countries with terrorism? Neither candidate is good, in fact, they are downright terrible in my mind. Like others, I won't be voting for someone in as much as I'll hold my nose and vote against someone else. But if the Democrats had Jim Webb as their candidate, he would be my man. But face it, both parties have gone more towards the extreme, and people like Webb or Kasich didn't stand much of a chance as a result.

Here's the thing. Trump appeals to the extreme right wing of the Republican Party. Mainstream conservatives never supported him until he became the presumptive nominee (and many still don't). Whereas Hillary is enduring a difficult primary challenge from Bernie because the extreme left wing of the Democratic Party views her as too conservative! Only one of the two parties has gone completely towards the extreme. Hillary is a middle of the road moderate for a democrat. She is not the progressive socialist that is on the extreme left. Trump, on the other hand, appears to be an extreme right wing ideologue. I mean, come on. When the republican speaker of the house won't support you, the republican senate leader vows to block your agenda, and respected conservative commentators and legal scholars speak out about how dangerous you are, then you are either the first black man elected to the presidency or you are the most unqualified person to ever seek the republican nomination.

I will say that as I watch the news, with Trump protestors (I have to assume they would support Hillary or Bernie) throwing rocks and bottles at policemen and their horses, burning the American flag, and waving Mexican flags in the background, it does nothing to take away from what little support of Trump that I do have. If you come to this country from Mexico, I'm all for it. I have three employees that I have hired, two of which are from Mexico. One has a father from Mexico and a mother from Bolivia. They all consider themselves to be Americans with Mexican origins. Sadly, I think there are many that still consider themselves to be Mexicans who just happen to live in America. That is not good, and I it applies to immigrants from other countries as well. It is why parts of Europe is having so many problems with their immigrants, they are not integrating as they should, and I would hate to see that future for America as well.

He's running to the left of Hillary on trade and military intervention. I am not sure if his lack of support from mainstream politicians are in as much a result of his policies, or how he represents them. He could have supported a wall and tougher immigration policy without expressing it in the way he did.

Hillary might be closer to the middle of Bernie, but he has moved her more to the left on many issues. She's had to denounce the crime law that her husband passed, that was by all means successful and was supported by the left, including the black caucus, when it was passed. She once spoke highly of how it stopped the "super predators" (I think that was the term), and now says it was Bill's policy, not hers. Either she has moved to the left, or she is faking it, one of the two.

Honestly, I feel like I am in need of a set of wheels, but the only two options I have are between a Pinto and a Yugo. The Pinto has a broken windshield and flat tires, and Rich- the used car salesman, is trying to talk me into the Yugo. Only the Yugo has floral seat covers as the result of a dog having piddled all over them, but while it hides the stain, it can't cover the stench!.
