I rarely bought mass produced cassettes, even when the cassette was in vogue, as they were produced at a much higher speed and lacked sound quality in comparison to recordings I could make at normal cassette speed. I've got an old cassette deck which includes dolby (b and c, I think) and dbx noise reduction. With dbx, the signal to noise ratio exceeded 90db, more than enough dynamic range for most recordings! When I used to record CDs, the recordings sounded exactly the same to my ears. I've been toying with the idea of recording some hi-rez digital onto cassette, just to see how it sounds. Of course, I have no idea if the old cassette deck even works, as it has been in storage since the 1980's.:eek1:
