One of the reasonably priced (21k Euros with speakers and their sub) were the Leedh speakers. They had an unique design, were extremely open, and the sound filled the room. I played opera, jazz (sax and piano), rock, classical on them and they rocked. Also high WAF, I think, given how easily they could be placed in a room. No idea though of distance required from the side wall.
