So then....I'm wondering what everyone is listening with on their 'Logans. What is it that you use most?

Right now I am trying to break in my new Ayre CD5xe so I am rotating red book, SACD, and DVDA. My best sounding source is vinyl-VPI/Graham/Koetsu into an audio research PH5.

vinyl most of the time , still sounds best . SACD 2nd choice .

is SACD worth buying a player? I have just a normal CD player there now, didnt think ahead a few yrs back when I bought it. I can get a basic one for 125-150 i figure. what do you all think?

Neil,

I really like SACD's as well as Redbook. :) I am also very interested in, Roger Waters - Qsound technology CD's like his "Amused To Death", which tsd2005 informed me (us) about.

Their does seem to be enough quality SACD's music out there to satisfy as well as have a good collection. IMHO, SACD's do sound better when played on a high quality SACD player like the McIntosh MCD201, I auditioned a couple of months ago. I plan on having a SACD player in my two channel system, which I'm currently saving up for. ;) The MCD 201 even spins the SACD's twice as fast and has two readers, it is just a totally awesome SACD player. Check it out:

HTH :D

Just a suggestion, I think your poll should distinguish between LOSSLESS digital (like FLAC, Apple lossless, WMA lossless) vs. LOSSY compression (mp3, etc.).

100% of my listening is now via Squeezebox, ~60% ripped FLAC files, remainder of my listening is 128 kbps streamed internet radio (Radioio Acoustic, Pandora, etc), which still sounds pretty damn good. Rarely, if ever, listen to Redbook CD anymore.
