Just got my Squeezebox Touch in the loop this morning.
I am completely amazed with the s/q straight out of the box.
Listenining to Medival music from an Italian station, cant get over at what I missed after all these years.
Got to look into how to tweak this thing...;)
Any users out there wanna make suggestions Please do.

Have fun! They're fantastic. You'll discover music like you never new possible.

For tweaks - nothing will compare to adding an external DAC. Assume you are already using lossless files also.

Actually I built such a monster system I rip to WAV & later will figure out if I need to convert, this is all new to me. Thanx for Chime in in..........
Funky groovy

If you go to the logitech forum they have a wealth of threads on how to improve the sq. You can upgrade the power supply for about $100 and run usb to a dac, many reported differences in sq on how its connected to the computer and best results were obtained using wire

I have one and just use it on the tubes for now as I have not tinkered enough for streaming music from flac on my laptop. I also want to buy an ipad or tablet so I can control it via blue tooth as universal remotes do not work with ir

There is a good thread on this in the polk audio forum. You will find a wealth of info from the nice guys over there if you feel the need to ask more questions. Here is the link to the thread titled Squeezebox Touch-tips, tricks & tweaks

Hey Beek,

If you have an iPad or iPhone, download iPeng, it is a brilliant remote app for the Logitech.

Hey Beek and others,
Ok I have been a Vinyl guy (still am) Cd guy (still am) and now moving my home network into my CLX system. My Marantz SR7005 is already tied to the 2TB music network I have attached to the Vantage. I setup an old machine I had in my CLX room with plenty of power, using the AudioQuest Cinnamon USB cable with Media Monkey Software via FLAC files into my AMR CD-77 DAC which only supports 16 bit. So far its pretty cool but I know it can be way better. So as an introductory DAC is the Cambridge Audio DacMagic plus a good starting point? I dont want to start to crazy and not keep having to swap DACS right away, want to start slow and move into the better later once I feel it. So in the $600 range what is the btter contender from your personal expieriences?
Also Beek how is the touch? Seems fun. Not trying to hijack thread, just need some direction.

The important thing is to get the bits out of the computer, then buffer and clock them. The Squeezebox does this extraordinarily well for the price. So does the Sonos. Then, you're free to use whatever DAC you like.

Important to rip your CDs well to flac with the touch. Lots written about this . I use EAC at 768 with highest quality settings.

Be sure to have your music files backed up .

So far just a few hours on the touch I am pleased with the s/q ripped as WAV files in some cases the rips sound better than the red books ...!

Hey Amey01, I already have the Sonos ZP90 in my ststem but it cannot play FLAC Files nor 24 bit. Called Sonos already and discussed this. The squeeze box can play 24/192?

The Touch plays 24/96. Not 192. 192 is a bit of a specialised area at the moment. S/PDIF doesn't support it, and most USB drivers don't either.

I believe it will play 192k files though by downsampling to 96k (dropping every second sample). You'd have to check up on that though.

Kinda why I was looking at the DacMagic plus. It will play USB 24/192 if you download their USb 2.0 driver made for it.

The incredible EDO (Enhanced Digital Output) free add-on for the Squeezebox Touch now allows full 24/176 and 24/192 playback via either SPDIF or USB. I just installed it, and am currently listening to a high-res MA Records sampler. This app elevates the SB Touch to the stratosphere! Great to know. Thanks for that, although at present I don't even have any 24/192 files!

Thanks for posting the info. I have a few 24/192 files. I have listened to them letting the Touch down convert them at 24/96. They never quite sounded as good as they do when I burned them on DVD-Audio an played they native. I will download it.

Thanks again.

Brad

Update, the EDO add-on works great. I am using over coax. The switch between high-res 24/96-24/192 is seemless. If you have a Touch and high-res music this is a upgrade you should get. The best part is its free.
