Will the upgrade lust ever end? Sweet!! A new plateau to shoot for as they may even fit into my budget someday..

Hello,
Adios Vantage. I really do like the Teak Finish. I hope the Veneer is thicker than on the Vantage as mine have a few nicks from very light contact.

Really am interested to Audition and read about the impact DSP makes on the overall SQ. Pretty surprising the Panel will be the same height as the Summit X.
Cheers,
JJ

I'm wondering if the crossover with a "DSP Engine" is just "marketing hype", or is this truly a new technological direction for ML? If the latter, I could seriously envision future Summits or Spires incorporating a room correcting DSP (complete with calibrated mic) for measuring and smoothing the bass response. Such innovation would go a long way in convincing the skeptics amongst us that ML is indeed still dedicated to the higher end of the market.

P.S. I really like the "Flamed Teak" finish as well.

Very nice indeed. So where do thEse fall in the line? Can you discuss price point and impact of dsp? Just found the price. Couldn't see it on my itouch

From what I heard this morning, they fit between the Vantage and the Spire.

Nice looking speaker. Not sure of the DSP thing yet. Seems like ML filled the price point between the Vantage/Spire, I wonder if there is something between the Spire/X or X/CLX coming down the road? There are some huge price gaps between those and leaves me wondering.

Pure Hype just to get you to buy the new speakers. Then in a year new panels would not be offered....

If they had lifetime warranty, then the whole world would purchase them.

Considering that the type of people who would buy such a speaker (us) are technically savvy, it is surprising that ML just tosses out those buzzwords without any explanation. In doing so they undermine their own credibility.

Bernard, the explanation of why our engineers chose to implement their own DSP is explained on the product page. In my original post, I was just listing some quick specs, the full details can be found here.

Justin, thanks for responding. I did read the product page, but it was unclear to me as to how the DSP engine operates, and from the preceding posts it appears that I am not alone. Note: I am not asking ML to unbutton your coats and reveal all; a brief explanation of the role of the DSP engine is all we need.

Direct from Mr. Vojtko himself:

>>>
Here is the Ethos signal path it should explain the role of the DSP

From the binding posts the signal proceeds in 2 directions

1) for the high frequencies
- through a passive high pass filter
- onto the step-up transformer
- and finally to the ESL transducer

2) For the low frequencies
- Stepped down by an analog circuit
- fed to an A/D converter
- In the DSP domain Low pass filtered and equalized for extended low frequency response
- The DSP also monitors the signal and prevents amplifier clipping
- Converted back to analog D/A
- buffered for driving an amplifier
- fed to a 200W amplifier
- the amplifier output drives the woofer

The DSP replaces the previous generation analog active signal processing circuitry.

It's very well possible that here is where being part of a "conglomerate" may have it's advantages....one of ML's sister company's ANTHEM has the know how to create both the hardware and software to accomplish that.

I'm excited for the reviews. Will they be at RMAF this yr to hear?
