Have you swapped out the "bad" XLR for another just to rule out a bad cable?
Also, keep in mind that you WILL need a subwoofer with the CLX... where as you may be able to get away without one with some of the other models mentioned above.
That said, and all panel...
Welcome Dan :D
Should earbuds really be designed to achieve a truly frightening 111.46dB SPL? Is that typical? And what's with specing SPL to the hundredths of a dB? I smell poor specmanship.
Welcome Rick!
Thanks for the background and great to hear that you're loving your MLs. Look forward to seeing your posts in and around.
Cheers

Slightly tangential to the core topic, but thought I would add that it's really easy to make generalizations. We've all done it and there are many examples to point toward. That said, while it's easy...
absolutely
It would be good (and fair) to hear what Peter or Justin have to say about all this panel failure/deterioration discussion. I have to think they are monitoring this thread (bobbing and weaving...
Can't disagree with the points being made here... panel replacement costs will drive a certain percentage of prospective buyers away. That said, there are at least some (like me) who do not plan to...
I can tell you that my 85W/ch Prima Luma KT88 based monos sounded incredible with my MLs... but in the end, it wasn't enough juice. Had to up the power (and boy did I up it). However, since you're...
Hey Guys,
If you're like me, you're getting a bit of a jump on the holiday starting right now. Hope you all have a wonderful time with family and friends as those of us in the states celebrate our...
I ran into the download revector as well. Thank you Tom for addressing!
Certain cinema was just meant for 3D ;)
Here's a nicely done "what's coming" vid from Corning that captures what we're all waiting for wrt 3D viewing. The 3D scene starts at 4:58 into the vid, but the entire thing is well worth viewing...
LOL... I think 16/44.1 does a find job at shining a light on mastering artifacts, compressed dynamics, and over-all shoddiness of much of today's "mainstream" music. I recently bought The Wailin'...
It's genre specific. I feel fortunate that, with my love of classical music, there has been an explosion of DSD and high bit rate recordings over the last several years that are easily attainable....
Yes...ARC! :) sorry about that. Glad you're enjoying your system so much!
+1 - the floor is gorgeous! (though it could be a tad "live")
Wow! You've made some pretty serious upgrades there from rack right through to speakers. Looks great! How do you like the CLXes driven by that big VTL amp?
Good point... what a gold mine of advice... and right there in his back yard (maybe).
While I don't own EMs, I can tell you that the first time I heard MLs was a pair of CLS (not sure which model revision) and I was completely blown away by the transparency - visually and sonically....
Welcome to hifi updrade-itis and welcome to MLO!
You'll find plenty of opinions here :)
The anthem amps get solid reviews. The A5 is also rated for 2 Ohm operation. IMO, if you feel the need...
When I first started my career in semis, I worked at a bench using a frequency generator that used nixies for a readout. This was in '82... Gawd that seems like 14 lifetimes ago :)
I enjoyed the limeric-like bookends to this post ;)
Hey Todd - welcome to the wild world of MLO :) Nice looking system!
