Why is it a high capacitance load? Is it due to the (litz?) braiding or what? I have seen a couple of other versions using CAT 5 cable, and am wondering if the high capacitance is limited to the (IMO excessive) 27 braided pair cable.
I saw Jon R's cable too. I also read a web site that seemed to be trying to debunk it, but they didn't sound like they were any fun at all. ;-)
About CAT 5, Jon says, "TO keep the capacitance down, especially if bi-wiring, you may
want to consider just a 16 or 18 pair version, this is still equivalent
to about 12 ga. total."
I like this idea of cables on a budget... I found model 1701A CAT 5 cable at one place for 7 cents a foot?! Now, that's what I'm talking about! ;-) Min. of 100'? I think I can afford $7. :-)
