I think the problem is the enclosure - especially the limited 20" behind the Cinema. MartinLogans like air, especiallylots of space behind them - there is about 4-5 feet behind my Cinema and it sounds wonderful. Vocals in particular sound extremely natural - like the singer/speaker is in the room.
If you canlocal the Cinema in an "open" area I think you would find there is an amazing improvement in sound.
