I just test drove a Porsche Cayman and a Cayman S. Now to figure out which one to buy. Right now, I'm in awe. Think I'll go put the new lawn mower together to take my mind off of it.

Maybe because it is at least 2X the cost?! Not to mention they don't have them sitting around for anyone to go "test drive", aka destroy...

I really hope my parents get this for my graduation.... Cayman S.... *drool*....
But, I wont complain if they get me the G35 or a 350Z so I dont mind. Anything is an upgrade from the car (Taurus) I drive now!!
Read a great article once about someone who drove a Cayman through the Tail of the Dragon -- keeping bikers behind him for a good part of the run. Anyone driven that road?

Myself, I'd get the BoxsterS. IMO the handling difference of having the roof is negligible on the street, but top-down driving is where it's at. When the Boxster show car came out I almost died! It was so beautiful. But the production car got the huge, long nose and lost a lot of the appeal of the show car.

The only times I've "driven" it were either with bikes in a truck or a trailer behind a car. :)
I've ridden the hell out of it! :D It's a real blast, and you don't have to bust the speed limit much to get a huge kick out of it (I just roll off the throttle once I've exited a corner so I really don't even have to watch for the rather heavy THP presence). http://killboy.blogspot.com/ is a fun place to look at what's going on there. There are a lot of awesome roads around the area, better than the Gap due to the overcrowding. If you're in the area (especially on a weekday) be sure to go, but riding is better in the surrounding areas.
...Ooops, just remembered, I did drive back & forth through the road once in my roommate's Cherokee. I had to get a new rear tire and drove up to Wheeler's. I kept on a Boxster's bumper for most of the trip (he really was in my way, and way ove rhis head) but he got around a minivan where I wouldn't have braved a pass. Keeping bikes in view isn't much of a grade, either, as the place is often full of no-talent ass clowns that just clog everything up.

No, that's the original show car. I really can't find any good pics of it on google, but it was incredible. It really looked like a modern 550 Spyder and it had just a tiny bit of car in front of the front wheel wells, much different to the 911 platypus nose it got in production.

To each his own. I like the Boxster, but I drool when I look at the Cayman. As far as Deal's Gap, I've been there a number of times on bikes only. As was said, stay away on the weekends and there is plenty of good riding all around the area, not just the Dragon (Cherohala Skyway?, oh yeah!)

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=350962904! 904! GIMMEGIMMEGIMMEGIMME! I'd even take a fake of that car. :) Actually I have seen a pretty decent kit of that car at Sebring in '99 or so (enormously expensive, though) that used a square tube chassis and an '80s 911SC engine. I guess they went under because I can't find anything on the car anymore.
I don't think I've ever seen anything against Mustangs specifically from killboy. Maybe against the drivers but not based on the car. That first pic "NASTY" I think is the, uhm, good form of nasty, like "bad ass" or whatever.
What I know he doesn't like is people apexing lefts in the oncoming lane, people not wearing gear, and trucks that can't read the enormous signs on either end of the road telling them they can't get through.

Other than the M6 and MAYBE the new 3 coupe BMW has not made a pretty car in near on a DECADE NOW! It is sad to see! Sure the perform well, but they look like HELL, ESPECIALLY the Z4 and all its iterations (though the coupe is MUCH better than the conv...that ain't saying much though!)

That is a stupid comparison (note I am not calling IWalker stupid, on that someone other than he would actually think to compare those two)! I don't care HOW GOOD the M400 is (or how fast)...IT IS A KIT CAR! You can not compare a car built to meet DOT, etc. specs and costs $400k and goes over 205mph to a KIT CAR! No one thinking about a Carrera GT is going to even park a Noble in their garage...

BTW, I'm not sure if I meant the M400, or M15...I really know very little about them...just read a couple articles as all.
It's not my comparison...it was an actual drive comparision that was done that I have a copy of (I'll try to find a link) The guy driving during the test said that, for driving around town, he'd take the Carrera GT due to it's appeal and interior and plusher suspension around town ,but for a day at the track he'd take the Noble. Depends on your priorities. If ridiculous speed and handling on a tight (relatively) budget are more important to you than first rate interiors, and a 200+mph top speed, then it's a better car for you, considering you can buy 4-5 nobles for the price of one GT.
And I never said it was as good. Just said it was put up very favorably against a car that is MUCH more expensive. The GT is a much better total package (that I drool over quite often) ... but this is a taste of that kind of speed and handling for around the price of a 911. (The TopGear lap time of the M400 was around 2.5 seconds slower in the M400, but only .2 seconds slower in the M15 vs the GT3)
What is it that's inherent in a kit car that makes it worse? Prestige? Isn't the proof in the pudding, so to speak? As a big DIYer...I don't take much stock in it when people say "this is better because XXXX (big name speakers manufacturer) makes it."

I probably misread. It is a good alternative, I am just saying they would never be considered by the same buyer.
Kit cars can be GREAT or junk, it all depends on the builder. They tend not to have consistency of finish that is the big problem, but I know Noble has done their best to overcome that.
My point was only that the comparison while interesting is silly as no one with enough money and who is considering a CGT will bother looking at a Noble and no one who can only afford a Noble (while getting CGT performance to be sure) would even come close to buying the CGT. As you pointed out you can buy 4/5 of those for the price of one CGT!

Yep, I agree. Though I think there might be "some" people who would get a noble + a bentley coupe or something as opposed to a GT3....but now I'm just hypothesizing...since I'm definitely not in the position to make that kind of decision ;)

AH, NOW YOU ARE MAKING IT INTERESTING!!! If you were going to spend $450k what would you get???? ONE CGT, or a whole FLEET of REALLY AWESOME cars, just not as awesome as a CGT! I like the Bent, and for me a 997TT (need that autobox) AND a 599 Ferrari to boot!!! YEA BABY! Well take your basic TT at about $120K, add $90K worth of go-fast goodies and you too can have a rip-snorting, all conquering Porsche 911. When I still had my Ruf BTR, I spent a Saturday with several of the best from the 911 TT tuner shootout. On the road, they were gone before my turbo spoiled up… lol… However, my car only made a measly 410hp compared to 805 – 812hp that they were making so I don’t feel too bad.
