View Full Version : Back to "Main Menu" after "Mark This Forum Read"
When I select "Mark This Forum Read" off of the "Forum Tools" menu within a given section, I think that you should go 'up one level' in the selection tree to "Main Menu". This is what happens on similar forums (AVS forums, for example), but is not what happens here. When you make this tool selection, you just stay in the same forum section. I think it should be like the other systems. After all, I'm done with the specific section, so I'm almost always moving to another forum. In here, the next thing I always have to do after marking a forum read is click on the "Main Menu" then the next forum section. Yes, its just one more click, but its inconvenient. :o
If this is simply one of the configuration options for the overall forum management software, it would seem reasonable to enable this feature.

Hi Ken,
I disagree that you should be taken back to the main menu once you mark the forum read.
You should be left there so you can see all the posts are marked "read" (not bold)... kind of a verification that the operation was successful.
Then you can navigate elsewhere on the site.

Tom.A matter of taste, I guess (and yours wins :D ). I trust the selection to do its job. Like I said, its not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience. My "mark read" operation in this forum will just always be two clicks; The "Mark Read" followed by the "Main Menu". I only brought this up because all of the other forums I frequent that use this management software do it the other way.
Just out of curiosity, is this a configuration selection?

Hey Ken,
I assume that it is, but to be quite honest, I didn't look. The vBulletin admin options are many and I'm sure that is something that's configurable.
