I received my Latest Norah Jones LP, in Red vinyl last week. I was wondering did any of the other vinyl junkies on the site order a copy in the supposed limited edition Red Vinyl ?? Since I pre orderd mine for $29.95 I guess I lucked out, it appears only Elusive Disc have a few copies left at $59.95 !!, Gulp !!

So, here's my question, should I not spin this LP and keep it un-opened ??
Will it have collector value down the road ?? several critics have not given it a good review, not that that means anything. I'm contemplating ordering the 200 gram 'Black pizza' version and spinning it.

Any thoughts from the Vinyl collectors out there ??

If you bought it to listen then why would you deny yourself the pleasure, thinking it may be worth a little more later.

It is not who dies with the most toys wins, But who got to play with them the longest.

If you want to make money that's what the stock market is for....if you want to enjoy your stereo then listen to it. That's what it's meant for.

I also had it delivered in red vinyl the other day. I haven't played it yet but I will.

I had the opportunity to hear all the stuff on the album in a most unusual way. About 2 weeks ago, I got an e-mail from one of our local NPR radio stations asking me if I wanted to go to a free Norah Jones concert since I'm a subscriber. I e-mailed them back and received two complimentary tickets to her (by-invitation-only) concert. It seems that this was for record industry personnel and the radio station managed to obtain about 50 pairs of tickets. My wife and I enjoyed the event very much. She did just about all the material on the new album and many songs from the 2 previous albums. It was a real kick! BTW - we were seated about 25 feet from the stage - a highly recommended way to witness an artist!

Norah Jones ~ Denied... Never.

Dave,

 As a former and wanna-be phono / analog - aficionado & enthusiast, I vote for you to open it up and listen to Norah's beautiful music, in red vinyl, on your wonderful ML / analog system... :rocker:

I guess I'm just thinking back to my Beattles White album, not that Norah Jones is gonna' compare, but I sure wish I had bought two, one to play and one to NOW put on E-Bay !!

I love Norah Jones, and her records just seem to get better and better.

But I've noticed that on EVERY CD I have of hers, the piano is harsh and sibilant. The voice, bass and drums are wonerful--lush, strong, and tight, but the piano--like nails on a chalkboard.

I thought it was my system, so I took these CDs to a local HiFi shop, and put it on their Summit system (Ayre pre and power amps, Audio Research CD player, Nordost cables) and, mych to my surprise (and relief!) it sounded pretty much the same as my system--lovely voice, bass and drum, but the piano still sounded harsh and grainy.

Is it the recording? Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a CD player out there that doesn't make the paino on her CDs sound nasty? Or is her recording engineer just clueless when it comes to recording the piano?

Help!!!

Ok, of topic slightly but here goes anyway. Nora is touring this spring and tickets for the Detroit area show go on sale on Wednesday, but I know there is a pre-sale going on and wanted to see if anyone knows and is willing to share the password required for the pre-sale tickets. Don't worry I am not a scalper, I just really love her music and would like very much to get up close for the show. I guess some cds purchased at Target had the pword inside but I bought mine at best buy.:(

Richard, I must say i have not heard any of the 'nastiness' you have spoken of with my LP's

FWIW, I have orded the 200 gram 'black viynl' version of her new LP to spin and have decided to keep the 'Red viynl' one unopened !!

Dave,

How'd the LP sound btw? I have the lossless version but am patiently waiting for my DAC to arrive before I do any critical listening...

Slightly off-topic here, too. But I have to say it, folks. Let me start by underlining that I've got all the Norah Jones albums. But come on, it's jazz pop, it's jazz pornography, lolita style, she's to jazz what Emma Shapplin is to classical music. Enjoyable, yes, but...

LOL :D
I've got a big bed, she can eat as many as she wants.
I don't know why but that opening line from the track "sinkin soon"
off her new album about "tossing oyster crackers in the stew"
HER VOICE SOUNDS SO DAMN SEXY WHEN SHE BREATES THAT LINE,
gets me everytime.

I have her 2004 concert DVD, and every time I watch it, part of my brain melts...... won't take too many more viewings and there'll be nothing left!
I will have to hunt down her LP. I haven't bought a new LP in years!
